2. Another example
of the Republican controlled congress not being able to find their own ass - using both hands to boot. Would it really kill them to use the business model for FEMA that worked so well in the Clinton Administration? Good Gawd! What a thought! I was under the assumption that congress worked for the interests and good of the American people....:sarcasm: not just their own adgenda...silly me.

4. Not only is this a shining example of their incompetence
but it reeks of a self-fulfilling plot! It's the standard Republican MO. Underfund public schools and say they don't work. Ignore intelligence on terrorism and act surprised when we're attacked. Ignore intelligence on Iraq and claim, "Well, we're there now! Nothing we can do about it!" Ignore warnings on the levies in NOLA, botch the response, then claim FEMA doesn't work.

Newsflash: It's the Republican Party that didn't work all along!

5. I have always felt that FEMA has two separate and distinct jobs
THE NATION'S DISASTER RESPONDER
    *Running the Emergency Operations Centers

    *Training the professional and volunteer "Responders"

    *Implementing

    *Providing Civilian Leadership for DOD's "National Guard Bureau" for Major, Multi-state, disasters.

    *Interfacing with and between the Red Cross, Salvation Army, Ham Radio, Southern Baptist Brotherhood Mass Feeding.

    *Kind of likre the Coast Guard, the Fire Department, and the Rescue Medics/Urban Search and Rescue


REINSURER AND MORTGAGE BANKER OF LAST RESORT
    *THE $$ FOR MASSIVE RECONSTRUCTION

    *FLOOD, EARTHQUAKE. HURRICANE, TORNADO, OTHER MASS DISASTER RE-INSURANCE.

    *POST DISASTER FHA/SBA FUNCTIONS
