We are at war... Couldn't "Big Oil" be held accountable
For the same charges of gouging the populace just as others were in WW1 and WW2.
As a country, we are there in the Middle east. Those of us here in the states really haven't suffered a great degradation in lifestyle BASED on the war on terror (I'm speaking personally for me and my family)We still go tour stores, get our food, get our clothing and unless we know someone specific (which I know two..) we only have the media as it is to tell us of things that go on there.
This is said only to setup my premise that I'm EXTREMeLY pissed that at a time of war, one of the most basic elements that moves OUR society forward (oil) is controlled by what seems as to be the most CORRUPT of "fatcats" There seems to be no end of lenience compared to 60 years ago (no I wasn't there) and how corporations and the PEOPLE pulled together for a common goal
I know I sound conservative for this ... but if our troops are there...why shouldn't this administration request a greater sacrifice of those of us who sit at our laptops every night. Why shouldn't it be mandate like decades before to control the resources that will help the military and our troops?
I'm so goddamn tired of the spin and counter spin by politicians in DC and on the state level trying to make every day's occurrence their own to manipulate while at the same time our FRIENDS, FATHERS, MOTHERS, SONS and DAUGHTERS die for this "greater vison of what can be in the middle east" but WE, cozy in our protest and blog atmosphere never TRULY know what our men and women do, nor do we help

Just ranting
Flame at will. I'm just tired of all the shit
THERE IS NO UNITY and that is what I wish we could pause...take breath, and look at the whole picture.

I'm so tired.

5. What happened in WW II is something people would not like....
Gasoline was rationed, to allocate more to the war effort. Individuals were allowed only their ration. This had the usual consequence that (a) there was a black market in ration tickets, and (b) there was a black market in off-ration fuel. The bottom line is that this policy made gasoline more expensive for civilians.

And to point out the state of global oil one more time: our society does not control the world's oil supply. Not the fatcats in our society, not the rich, not the politicians, not anyone. Beginning in the 1970s, the US became an oil importing nation, and we now import two-thirds of all oil that we use. We have to buy that on the global market, from foreign producers. Think Hugo Chavez and King Abdullah. They are corrupt fat-cats. But they're not our corrupt fat cats.

:hippie:
