1. Why isn't Abramoff in prison under armed protective guard

He looks very frightened on the cover of Time and the photo inside dated Jan. 16 issue. I thought the Feds let the photographer into the prison cell or safe house where Abramoff should be to scare the repugs about the possiblity that Abramoff wore a wire. Is the Abramoff judge corrupt? i don't know but unless Abramoff gave a great deal of useable evidence why was his violations taken down from 100 years to 9 years in prison?
