My Name is Straight Story - and here is the straight story
1. If you lie to the government about taxes, or just about anything, you face fines and jail. Even if no harm is done you face punishment.
- Unless you lie about why you are sending thousands to die for profit. Unless you are lying to protect us from ourselves and/or your own desires.

2. If I tap your phones, harass you because your politics are different than mine, and so on, I can again face civil and criminal action.
- unless I work for the government, of the people, by the people, for the few people in government we always say.

3. If you meet and give weapons to terrorists I will come for you.
- unless you work for me and the cia, we can meet saddam and give him weapons, we can fund taliban, and so on. Is OK if we do it, just not you - mmmmm k?

4. If you send an email with kiddie porn I will nab ya (and rightly so)
- unless you are the government, then you should help us be major distributor of this - legally too of course.

5. If you have sex with a prostitute I will get you.
- unless you are the police (like here in Columbus) who can pay em, have sex with them, and then arrest them for letting you.

6. If you smoke in a bar, gonna fine ya
- but you can disperse weapons with depleted uranium and enact policies for the environment that are much worse, oh and locally of course allow urban sprawl, destroy watersheds, and so on. It's ok if we do it, so join us for freedom - we are the real america with freedoms, you are the slaves we have carry out our bidding.

How long can this list go? How many more rights have we allowed the government to have that we the people who employ them don't? Do we TRUST them to do things we are not allowed to do?

Every day it seems they break the laws they make for us, or have loopholes for themselves. Sure some things have a good reason - no argument there by me - but when they blatantly break the law why will it take years (it at all) to arrest someone?

Let's go ahead and bust some more pot heads, prostitutes, and the like - the real criminals have nothing to worry about so we might as well arrest everyone else.

Oh and one more thing - if I made something for the troops to help them and it was defective and they died I would be sued. Good enough. If I am president and I just don't equip them well enough (after lying in the first place and having defective intelligence) and they die it is ok.

Makes me sick sometimes.

1. We are a nation of law.
We are a nation of law.

We are a nation of law.

We are a nation of law.

We are a nation of law.

We are a nation of law.

We are a nation of law.

We are a nation of law.

If you don't believe it, watch the upcoming State of the Union and the great defender of the Constitution will tell you so. If you are playing jingo bingo, this phrase is a highly prized middle square.

7. Golden Rule...
Ye who has the gold, makes the rule. This is the best justice money can buy.

Problem with corrupt politicians is most times its a "victimless" crime. They just screw all the taxpayers and thus can plunder in plain sight. You can't really put a face to war profiteering or influence peddling or money laudering that looks anywhere as scary as a mug shot of a drug dealer. Perception is everything.

9. We Glorify Crooks In Suits
What else explains why so many people glammed onto John Gotti?

Money also brings you a lot of friends you normally wouldn't have.

Yea...that is one scary bastard. A cross between Hannibal Lector and The Penguin.

The problem is there are some that still think that killer is a "kindly grandfather".

11. By coming down hard on petty criminals, it makes them look tough on crime.
That's all that your "average American" looks at. 22-year-old gets heavy sentence for pot, yippee! They're cracking down on drugs. Meanwhile, Abramoff is looking at only 10 for his willingness to be a snitch, but his attitude and character have caused thousands and thousands to die because he was part of the machine which kept bush in power.

Enron, Abramoff, Ney, Iraq, big Pharma protection, none of that matters as long as the little guy is getting hard time. That's what gets into people's consciousness. They want to put away the man who steals a loaf of bread, while the real criminals are robbing them blind.
