NUMBER 1-

Arrests were a shock after Patriots Day
What? Peaceful anti-war protesters led away from a congressman's office to jail for staging a quiet sit-in, attempting to meet with their representative during his Easter recess in the district? Must be a Republican representative - we know they arrest dissenters at their rallies and offices.
Rep. Delahunt, you say? Couldn't be. He's a Democrat. It couldn't happen here. Not in Massachusetts, the day after Patriots Day! The demonstrators are actually in sync with the majority of Americans, who now believe the war is a mistake and we should end it.
The protesters by their action remind us that we must be constantly vigilant to maintain our democracy; they are true patriots.

NUMBER 2-

Feeling good about arrest for protesting
Your April 20 article about the arraignment of Cape Codders for Peace and Justice reports that we wore ''broad smiles'' while being arraigned, and took photos of ourselves after leaving court. Oh, you bet we did.
They were smiles of relief, as two of the six arrested for trespassing by sitting in Rep. Delahunt's office had declined bail as a matter of principle.
We had been told the two peace activists had been transported to the courthouse in handcuffs and ankle shackles. Those of us who opted for bail were very relieved to see our friends, true patriots and heroines, had made it through the night in jail OK.
One does not take the step of committing civil disobedience lightly. Inaccessibility to and lack of communication from our elected leaders are just unimaginable in the United States of America, especially in these frightening times when we see our civil liberties eroding daily.
When hardworking members of the community are willing to go to jail for preserving democracy - you better believe we felt good about what we had done.
This isn't just fun and games - this is our very democracy at risk.

3. Holy Moly- My mistake! It was THREE! 3 LTTE's yeah baby
Since when is asking a criminal offense?
Our treasured democracy is in peril when a troupe of harmless and unarmed Cape Codders is arrested, as reported April 19 (''Protests leads to arrests'').
The cause of their arrest was trespass. Do you mean ''trespass'' on a public space for which these taxpayers are paying?
The six persons were in the office of Rep. Delahunt, asking a very clearly stated question. Arrested for asking a question of a public official?
They have every reason in a functioning democracy to expect a reply, but had not received even a verbal acknowledgment, let alone a polite letter, in five months.
I observed that these citizens were in no way violent or threatening. They were consistently polite and courteous, and behaved in a completely nonviolent fashion. Nor were they in any way preventing the normal work from proceeding. The staff kept answering phones and sending out letters.
Their crime, as far as I can tell, was to ask that the congressman give his reasons for refusing to support the bill to bring our troops home, now!

4. What is wrong with this Representative?
When your boss is in your office asking for answers you don't call the police. He is not a Democrat, he is a sleezeball who thinks he is better than his constituents. This is one reason only about half of the US votes. If you have to chose between evils you still end up with evil...

7. Actually a 4th LTTE was hysterically funny anti-bush too
Included for your reading enjoyment

Bush incompetence might do some good
The more he infuriates foes, allies and oil suppliers and spreads fear and dismay about our planet, the better off all us opposable-thumbers are.
At $3 or $5 per gallon of gas, gasoline consumption plummets, carbon dioxide levels abate, global warming reverses and the United States gets a new manufacturing gig for non-hydrocarbon energy technology. In the meantime sis and junior, along with their parents, are reintroduced to pedal locomotion (bikes and walking) and our McDonald's ''chubby'' children crisis is history.
One man's incompetence is another man's tool.
God bless George ''Walker'' Bush.

9. Screw Delahunt.
That is just so despicable, I just hope his next opponent mentions this incident early, often and swears anything like it will never, ever happen on their watch.

I hope you guys generate even more press when this gets to court.

Keep up the good work- you guys ROCK!
