President Bush Job Approval

Thursday April 27, 2006--Thirty-eight percent (38%) of American adults approve of the way George W. Bush is performing his role as President. That's the lowest level of support ever measured by Rasmussen Reports.

and:

Election 2008
(with immigration enforcement 3rd Party Option)

Democrat 31%
Republican 21%
Other 30%
RasmussenReports.com

April 27, 2006--Democrats currently hold a 12-point advantage over Republicans on a generic 2008 Presidential ballot. However, a third-party candidate focusing on immigration enforcement issues could fundamentally alter those political dynamics.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national opinion survey finds that 44% of Americans say they would vote for a Democrat if the Presidential Election were held today. Just 32% would vote for a Republican. Those figures are likely a reflection of unhappiness with the Bush Administration rather than a commentary on prospective candidates from either party (see crosstabs).

The survey also asked respondents how they would vote if "a third party candidate ran in 2008 and promised to build a barrier along the Mexican border and make enforcement of immigration law his top priority."

With that option, support fell sharply for both major parties. The Democrats still come out on top with support from 31% of Americans. The third party candidate moved into a virtual tie at 30% while the GOP fell to 21%.

2. Raz worried about their credibility perhaps?
Since they typically have * ten pints (give or take) higher than the average of other national polls.

4. keep in mind
Rassmussen ALWAYS polls Republicans higher. So that "third party candidate" would not get as many votes as he suggests from Democrats.

6. If Rasmussen shows Bush this low, he is really in trouble. I've
watched their poll figures for well over a year now and they consistently show Bush's approval rating 5 - 10 points higher than any other poll. Not only have the wheels come off the wagon, they are spinning their way merrily down the road and into the ditch.

8. hey, looks like even some repubs are waking up:
From the same Ras page:
--
The President earns approval from 66% of Republicans, 13% of Democrats, and 33% of those not affiliated with either major party.
--

IIRC, that 66% is down from around 85% not so long ago.

Edited on Thu Apr-27-06 02:00 PM by DanCa
As much as I would love to vote third party I don't want to take a chance and hand over the court to the neocons. Remember the next President will probably get a chance to nominate to or more judges next term. It's time for this country to turn left.
