CNN: "Wildcat sighted near Anderson AFB". Real news?
Edited on Thu Apr-27-06 02:04 PM by maveric
Is it unusual to have such wildlife near a miltary facility?
When will the "Alligator in NYC sewer", story pop up?

There are plenty of other "real" news stories that CNN could be covering.
My late, news-journalist Dad is spinning in his grave.

1. It's only real news if it was wearing a suicide bomb.
When the forces of nature start doing Kamikaze attacks, we'll know that Humanity has REALLY screwed up.

2. Something must be up in D.C. if that's what CNN is covering
That's just so ... NOT news that it begs the question: "What are the Thugs stealing NOW behind our backs?"

3. That's the 24-hour news cycle for you...
I'll bet money you won't see this story on the evening news. But CNN needs it to fill space

4. a secret code signal?
In WWII resistance leaders would listen to certain broadcasts on their shortwave radios, for seemingly-innocuous phrases, like "the daisies are yellow" or "a wildcat was sighted near the base." One of these would be their code signal to commence their part of an operation, say to sabotage something, or meet an operative.

5. Earlier this afternoon they covered the rescue of a bear!!!
Ohhhhh...it was so exciting. So moving. So riveting.

I'm so glad that during some of the most critical times in our
nation's history--that these bastards at CNN are doing the job
of Marlin Perkins.

((sarcasm))

6. Several years ago at the Naval Air Station in New Orleans
an alligator camped out in one of the traps on the golf course. He didn't bother anybody but eventually he was removed because he got too big. Another one meandered into one of the hangars, probably just looking for some shade.

7. "....such wildlife near a military facilty?"
Well, there's the Saturday night barracks blowouts ....

No, it's not unusual at all. It's not unusual for wildlife to live on the facility.

They are sideshow carnival barkers for snake oil salesmen.
