1. Where can a find a link showing the differences in the versions?
I'd like to see how the House and Senate version differ.

3. Looks like much ado over a technicality
13 vs. 36 months in one part of the bill seems (to me) like a tiny issue.

But, whatever it takes I guess. Good luck to him.

5. Not to the people affected by it, who may die because they
cannot take care of their own oxygen equipment, better off to lease and have service on it.

7. Are you SURE that is right?
Edited on Thu Apr-27-06 07:30 PM by SlipperySlope
I just read a letter from Waxman that implies that Oxygen equipment was at 36 months in both versions of the bill, but things like wheelchairs are what is being discussed here...

Does he want the 13 months turned back into 36 months, or is he after something else here?

8. Lemme know when you are done. I used home oxygen as the
only example I knew of. This stuff has to work. My mother was on home oxygen for almost seven years before she died (and she never smoked).

9. Ok, I was just trying to figure it out...
I think I understand it as best I can.

On the one hand, I think this is a political move (not a principled move).

But on the other hand, I'm a stickler for detail, so I say go for it.

If this gets traction, only SCOTUS can work it out...

11. I don't know, the bullshit in this country flies so fast and furious
that it is pretty hard to keep things straight. Either way, the asshat cannot sign a law that hasn't passed both houses of Congress.

6. What politics has become...
Besides the obvious, I mean. Of course I'm repeatedly delighted by Conyers, he's one of the few remaining Americans with any real courage remaining in our government. He's been being a grand thorn in the sides of the Republicans--at least to the extent possible given their obstructive control over Congress. Indeed, he's probably the greatest thorn since Senator Paul Wellstone. What's most personally disturbing is that I should even have had the following thought: I sincerely hope Conyers continues to be successful and lives a long, healthy life (as in: doesn't meet with an unfortunate, premature end--as Wellstone did).

Perhaps given their years of total control, Rethuglicans won't feel as "threatened" by people like Wellstone or Conyers anymore... Perhaps there wasn't anything really unnatural about Wellstone's plane crash... Still, the fact that I would think about such ugly eventualities says something about the politics of our time. Happily, it's just a minor, passing thought and not some sort deeply held paranoid belief, but it's a sorry fact that it even occurred for consideration. (remember: it's not paranoia if they really are out to get you! :tinfoilhat: wink)
