Republican Leader: Entire House to Debate Iraq
Dear DU,
We've just learned that House Majority Leader John Boehner (R-OH) has privately told Republican colleagues he will allow a "lengthy debate" on America's Iraq war policy. According to Congressman Wayne Gilchrest (R-MD), the announcement "caused a hush to fall over the audience."1
IT'S WORKING. You and other TrueMajorityACTION members have been pushing Congress for this debate for months. After three years of silence, it's about time our representatives start considering alternatives to "staying the course" in Iraq.
More big news: tomorrow morning, you'll be able to hear the new, surprise Neil Young antiwar album, "Living With War" on the TrueMajorityACTION website:
http://neilyoung.truemajorityaction.org.Neil's "most powerful album in years"2 will be available for FREE on Friday. This is a great chance to bring more people into the growing movement for sanity in Iraq. Be sure to forward this e-mail widely and send your friends to
http://neilyoung.truemajorityaction.org.Along with the free album tracks, we'll have a petition supporting Sen. Russ Feingold's (D-WI) new move to bring the troops home by New Year's.3
We'll send you another message tomorrow with more details. But tell your friends tonight about the new album: "A fierce, comprehensive indictment of the Bush administration and all its failures, at home and abroad."2
1 "House will debate Iraq." The Hill, 4/27/06.
2 "Neil Young lets loose a war cry." The Globe and Mail, 4/26/06.
3 "Feingold amendment would require troop return by end of year." Associated Press, 4/27/06.
When you get a monster down kick harder. Don't stop people, now is the time to finish the job. Put some heat on this do-nothing Congress because they are ALL afraid they're about to lose their jobs!
It sure is a great feeling, being a member of a group like TrueMajority along with folks like Russ Feingold and Neil Young. It costs nothing to join and takes only minutes a month to participate through email petitions. Wouldn't you like to feel good right now? Here's how to feel good about yourself and maybe even America:
