1. I hate to sound like a wet blanket
But I have to be a wet blanket: It's not good to get people's hopes up like this. If it happens, it happens; if it doesn't, it doesn't.

But there have been many disappointments here about this incident. I just wanted to reiterate the need for a sober skepticism. Here, have a soda or beer on me:

5. Could it be? Yes, it could...
A Song for Thinking About Indictment:

Could be!
Who knows?
There's something due any day;
I will know right away,
Soon as it shows.
It may come cannonballing down through the sky,
Gleam in its eye,
Bright as a rose!

Who knows?
It's only just out of reach,
Down the block, on a beach,
Under a tree.
I got a feeling there's a miracle due,
Gonna come true,
Coming to me!

Could it be? Yes, it could.
Something's coming, something good,
If I can wait!
Something's coming, I don't know what it is,
But it is
Gonna be great!

With a click, with a shock,
Phone'll jingle, door'll knock,
Open the latch!
Something's coming, don't know when, but it's soon;
Catch the moon,
One-handed catch!

Around the corner,
Or whistling down the river,
Come on, deliver
To me!
Will it be? Yes, it will.
Maybe just by holding still,
It'll be there!

Come on, something, come on in, don't be shy,
Meet a guy,
Pull up a chair!
The air is humming,
And something great is coming!
Who knows?
It's only just out of reach,
Down the block, on a beach,
Maybe tonight...

12. I know it is hard to get excited
about it, only to not have it happen, but when the news is talking about it and all the pundits are saying it does not look good, I can't help it, I have some hope...

14. Another possibility: that Rove is squealing on others in order to AVOID
indictment, or in a deal for lesser chargers. The known facts point more in this direction--especially Rove's 3 1/2 hour stint before the grand jury yesterday (his FIFTH appearance). If Fitzgerald and the GJ were preparing to indict Rove, I tend to doubt they would be spending so much time with him. They may have the goods on him on perjury and obstruction (quite likely) and he's trying to squirm out of it, and the only way for him to do that, as this point, is to STOP obstructing justice, and to give up the higher perps (or Libby--who is charged with perjury/obstruction, but not yet with the actual outing of Plame/Brewster-Jennings).

17. Also-- these leaks from Rove that he is "worried" about his legal
jeopardy have me puzzled. Why would he leak that? It could be to try to drum up some sympathy from Bushites/Repubs on what he is doing--squealing on someone(s). No matter what kind of legal position he is in, it doesn't make much sense for him to leak that he is "worried." (Even is he's charged with something, he is not yet convicted.) This also could be a news set-up--a Rove specialty--that is, that Rove has made a deal, knows that he has avoided charges, and is setting up a vindication (of himself, Rove) in the newsstream. I tend to think that there isn't anything he could say, at this point, that would free him of a perjury charge--and I also tend to think that who he has given up is Libby (on the main charge), because I think he has a grudge against Libby (for trying to set him up to take the fall for this).

In a way, I hope one of these other scenarios is the true one, because if Fitzgerald indicts Rove on perjury and obstruction, what it means (or may mean) is that Libby and Rove have successfully blockaded him from getting at the higher perps (Libby covering for Cheney, Rove for Bush--and perhaps both of them for Rumsfeld, who I think is the mastermind). When Fitzgerald gave his press conference on the Libby indictment (for perjury and obstruction), that's essentially what he said--that the matter was extremely serious, and involved the national security of the United States, and that Libby was blockading his investigation.

So I'm not hoping for more of a blockade--this time from Rove--but for an opening up of the case, and investigation, indictment and conviction of the higher up traitors to this country.

However, if, as I drive home from work tomorrow evening, I hear on the radio that KKKarl has been indicted, I am definitely making a detour to the liquor store.

I'll get the good stuff, too.

19. How about the option for: I have no idea
Fitz isn't my hero until I see some results. So far, I haven't seen anything.

I think some ppl are just spending WAY too much time thinking about this.

If it happens, COOL, but I'm going to sit back and wait for something to actually happen.
