Ok, is this plausible, why the Rovester has been meeting with the GJ...
Edited on Thu Apr-27-06 07:54 PM by jsamuel
It seems to me that this could be the current scenario:

  • Fitz meets with GJ, gives them info to indict Rove for.
  • The GJ wants to ask the Rovester some questions. This is due to at least some members of the jury wanting to make sure that he lied (because they don't want to indict an innocent man).
  • Fitz mails out target letter to the Rovester. And lets him know he has an opportunity to testify one more time before the GJ to clear it up.
  • Rovester agrees and meets with the GJ.
  • The GJ asks him pointed questions based on the info Fitz gave them. Causes it to be "Hell" for the Rovester.
  • The GJ has now either made up its mind and will indict tomorrow or it hasn't and will meet with Rove again tomorrow.

Sound about right?

1. Has it ever been determined definitively that Rove got a
target letter?

8. Nora O'Donnel on Hardball was asking a former Asst. Special Prosecutor
that question tonight. She kept asking if Rove could be a target. The guy said that Fitz didn't have to tell Rove he was a Target until he was ready to indict...just before.

9. oh...also..the former Assistant Prosecutor said that appearing before
a Grand Jury five times and testifying this last time for over three hours didn't look good. Said the only other person who had appeared five times before a SP was Betty Currie, Clinton's secretary during Lewinski and she wasn't even considered a "subject" for possible indictment. So, Rover sounds in some trouble from what this ASP said.

2. Well, yeah, could be--and I sympathize with anyone trying to penetrate
what's happening with this treasonous crime and its perps. But there are a number of other possibilities. One of them is that Rove's numerous appearances before the Gj, and the recent lengthy one, mean that Fitzgerald already has Rove by the short hairs on perjury and obstruction, and Rove is squealing on others in order to AVOID being indicted, or in a deal for lesser charges. I actually hope this is the case--so they what we DON'T have now is TWO people obstructing the investigation--Libby AND Rove. The MOST guilty parties are the leaders--Cheney, Rumsfeld and Bush. That's who I want to GJ to indict, more than any others.

4. Thx for the post.
I enjoy hearing your summation. You don't claim to speak from totally verified information, but are making enticing connections pointing to a plausible conclusion.

In other words, I love hearing it because the same mechanism can occasionally entice me to have a Big Mac. Even tho I know it's empty calories, not a vow of nutrition, there's still such a yummy and satisfying sythesis of ingredients that even a brief savoring is still savoring.

Thanks jsamuel, hope you're right!

6. This grand jury has to hear it all again. They want to see and hear it
themselves. So he's probably having to cover all his little problems areas, and some of them he's going to have a hard time selling them "slipped my mind!"

11. I'm not so sure. I think maybe there should be a hyphen between
pasty and faced.

12. Rove asked to retestify....
The GJ doesn't invite anyone to testify, the prosecutor calls people to testify. Grand Juries are called simply to hear evidence and decide if indictments are warranted. That's it, they don't decide who comes before them. They're told.
