Black nationalists provide security for rape accuser
Edited on Thu Apr-27-06 11:19 PM by ECH1969
An official with the New Black Panther Party for Self Defense said the black nationalist organization is providing security for the woman who has accused Duke lacrosse players of raping her.

And the organization is distributing recruitment brochures with information about a rally planned near the Duke campus for Monday. The brochures ask, "Had enough of disrespect and racism from Duke University?" The materials contain photographs of Collin Finnerty and Reade Seligmann, the two white lacrosse players indicted and charged with raping a black exotic dancer at 610 N. Buchanan Blvd. the night of March 13-14.

The accuser's father said he spoke with his daughter Tuesday night but that she made no mention of threats or fearing for her life. He has been speaking with her regularly and says she is in good mental health. The father has also given apparently conflicting statements to different news organizations about whether his daughter is willing to testify.

Founded in 1989 in Dallas, the New Black Panther Party for Self Defense has chapters across the U.S. It preaches self-determination for a black nation through revolutionary changes. Among other tenets of the organization are calls to free all incarcerated black people, exempting blacks from military service, education that "exposes the true nature of this devilish and decadent American society," and demands for trials by a jury of black peers.

1. Good for them. Heck, I'd join them if I weren't Irish.
It'd be good to see them get some good publicity out of this.

they got cranked up.

They are nuts.

What's next, the Aryan Nation throwing down on this?

14. Have you ever encountered any of them?
If they get any face time on this, they will set back Black Women's causes 100 years.

8. They call themselves different things
I think they want to be called the "National Aliance of Black Panthers" now. They seem to like to change names every few years. Many are also member of the Nation of Islam.

They believe in "black nationalism." Which is basically the same as Nazis, but they believed in black supremacy instead of white supremacy.

It was funny when Jerry Springer used to get these guys on the same stage with the KKK. Every other word was beeped out and the whole thing was one big brawl.

15. Yep and as a little black girl growing up in LA
in the 70's, I distinctly remember being ACCOSTED in parking lot with my mom by "brothers" from the Nation of Islam. Because we are obviously ethnically mixed, at least according to them, they were constantly questioning the reasons why were shopping at regular groceries, eating certain food, etc.. One time was particularly memorable. My mom and I was walking into the grocery, Ralph's, for those of you who're familiar.
This "gentleman", walked up to intercept my mother and I , complete with a suit and one of thoise stupid bowties. I don't remember what this imbecile saidto my mother but I remember that he actually starting haranguing mom about her name and her ancestry. Boy, Mom went medieval on his ass when he actually told her that her Irish grandfather was a rapist, (he and my greatgrandma, Melissa, were married for the better part of 57 years) and implied that she was a mutant of some sort. Never Mind that most, if not all Black people in the US, if they've been here at least 100 years, are mixed...
Anyway, he then took his life into his hands when he told her that although her maiden name was what is was, (it's a unusual german name), she had no idea who were father really was because somehow, her family had been stolen from her, as a result of Slavery. He then added his own noose when he tolld her that actual name was "Margie X". ( her first name was Margie.) She told him in rather colourful language that, "no, my daddy's name is XXXX and unless you have a reason not to reach your next birthday, get your ass out of my way before I put all my size * shoe in your rear end." He looked cowed and slunk away.

Oh yeah, they're a hate group extraordinaire

5. This is fucking ridiculous.
This is like throwing gas on a fire. She doesn't need this security, it's just a way to use this so-called victim, if she even was raped, as a way to boost the PR for their pathetic group.

If she really does need security, I am sure that law enforcement officials would be more than happy in this situation to help and improve their image by providing her with the best and highest security they deemed appropriate.

7. Local law officials providing her security?
She was the victim. Now she has to defend herself against her accusors?

W has reignited racial hatred. Bill Clinton was loved by all.

18. Women of any color are subject to harrassment
Edited on Fri Apr-28-06 12:34 AM by Erika
if they are poor, single, and working to better themselves when they are faced with the rich elitist class who believe they are superior to all. Any of these kids ever thought about getting a job?

The two rape suspects had their parents post a $400,000 cash bond for them. Just your normal kid, right? Who never had a sense of superiority or entititlement?

16. all par for the course
They always show up to get TV time and act tough when there's an issue with racial overtones that hits the scene.

I'm sure the accuser has gotten a lot of "support" from those trying to mine her celebrity.

And the rich boys are her victims? Right wing radio says that 100%.

If you want to call that guilty, then that's what it is.

17. There's evidence
Telephone calls were made, and mass printed pamphlets are said to be involved; maybe other stuff (I conjecture) -- therefore evidence can be pursued and hopefully lead to the culprits responsible. I hope the targetted woman would turn over the evidence to the FBI who would investigate it as a hate crime. Thankfully, there are a lot of tools that law enforcement have developed to identify the culprits. Hate crimes and intimidation are not to be tolerated in America.
