Bush: No help for Darfur because it would be considered an invasion??? |
|
Did anyone see Couric this morning? Clooney was on discussing Darfur and how they seeked help from our Gov't and Couric read a statement saying military would not be provided because it would be considered "invading" the country? Did I really hear that right this morning? :wtf:

Trying to simply stay alive in the midst of hell can sort of push freedom-loving back a tad on one's list of priorities, I suppose...

9. You have to wonder. Do they hope north Africa goes down the tubes |
|
and becomes a battlesite for the caliphate vs. the neocons? Humanitarian intervention is not aggressive war. But it is a precedent set that neocons do not want to re-inforce.

It was taken from the New York Times: http://www.nytimes.com/2006/04/27/world/africa/27diplo.html?ex=1303790400&en=88f1530b61f52e5e&ei=5089&partner=rssyahoo&emc=rssWithout the government's agreement, the Bush administration acknowledges, dispatching troops to Darfur would rightly be viewed as an invasion. Because we know he's not into that crazy invading thing.

17. Couric actually quoted it with a straight face. |
|
She was one of the top supporters of the Iraq invasion, but she was reading this to Clooney as if to say, "Geez George. We're not in the invading business, why make a fuss...Liberal" :eyes:

14. Yes, my husband and I both nearly choked over that one, too |
|
He pointed out that had we not gone adventuring in Iraq, no one would be concerned about the appearance of an "invasion" were we to do something about Darfur.
And the stark comparison between our invasion of Iraq, on trumped up reasons... and the genocide in Darfur.
Ugh. It's too frustrating sometimes!

21. A lot of people wondered why we gave Katie Couric such a hard time |
|
on these boards when she was announced as Schieffer's replacement at CBS News.
This interview should have been conducted by Christianne Amanpour and not Katie Couric.
I know we're not talking about the same network, but I bet Ms. Amanpour would have pursued the question more surgically.
