43. I'm a constiuent of Ron Paul.
I emailed him about this when it was being debated. He replied the same day:

Thank you for contacting my office regarding the recent decision by the Bush Administration to approve a state-controlled United Arab Emirates company taking over operations at six major U.S. ports.

I share your outrage over this decision, particularly as the Administration did not even bother to consult with Congress or the U.S. states involved.

I am pleased to inform you that I have sent a letter to Rep. Mike Oxley, the Chairman of the Financial Services Committee, requesting a full congressional investigation of this decision. As I serve on this Committee, which has oversight functions over the Treasury Department, I can assure you that I will seek answers from and share your concerns with any witnesses from the Administration.

As most of these ports are actually owned by U.S. states and municipalities, I strongly support those governors who have indicated that they do not intend to allow the federal government to dictate to them who will run their ports. I hope the Texas state government would display the same determination to resist a potentially dangerous federal dictate regarding the running of our ports should we face a similar move in the future.

Sincerely,

Ron Paul

I emailed him again today.

42. Here's the quote I was looking for
From the movie "Network"

You have meddled with the primal forces of nature, Mr. Beale, and I won't have it, is that clear?!

You think you have merely stopped a business deal -- that is not the case! The Arabs have taken billions of dollars out of this country, and now they must put it back. It is ebb and flow, tidal gravity, it is ecological balance!

You are an old man who thinks in terms of nations and peoples. There are no nations! There are no peoples! There are no Russians. There are no Arabs! There are no third worlds! There is no West! There is only one holistic system of systems, one vast and immense, interwoven, interacting, multi-variate, multi-national dominion of dollars! petro-dollars, electro-dollars, multi-dollars!, Reichmarks, rubles, rin, pounds and shekels!

It is the international system of currency that determines the totality of life on this planet! That is the natural order of things today!

That is the atomic, subatomic and galactic structure of things today! And you have meddled with the primal forces of nature, and you will atone!

Am I getting through to you, Mr. Beale?

Chinese been behind? Dubai royals were best buds with OBL right up to 9/11.

This doesn't bother me as much as the Ports deal -- this only opens the companies involved to spying and possible sabotage, but not for complicity in smuggling WMD into the US.

45. Wow,nine plants that supply the Pentagon.
President Bush is expected on Friday to announce his approval of a deal under which a Dubai-owned company would take control of nine plants in the United States that manufacture parts for American military vehicles and aircraft, say two administration officials familiar with the terms of the deal.

The officials, who were granted anonymity so they could speak freely about something the president had not yet announced, said that the final details had not yet been set and that Mr. Bush might put conditions on the transaction to keep military technology in the United States.

But his action is almost certain to attract scrutiny in Congress...
