Schumer Caught Alito but didnt realize it, someone contact Schumer |
|
Schumer asked about the 1985 comment Alito made to a newspaper reporter indicating he thought emphatically that the right to an abortion was not supported in the Constitution.
Then, Schumer asked if he still felt that way today, and Alito dodged like, 8 times in a row.
SCHUMER MISSED THE KILLER BLOW, which is this:
"Judge Alito, you are claiming you cannot give a direct answer as to whether the constitution supports the right to an abortion because unlike the right to free speech, the right to choose is not explicitly stated, but instead requires interpretation based on a case. Yet, you made a statement in 1985, outside the court room, to a reporter, with absolutely no case reference. Therefore, clearly, you are able to give an opinion about whether the constitution grants the right to an abortion or not without having to rely on interpreting a case, because YOU ALREADY DID SO IN 1985. Therefore, I DEMAND you tell me if you still feel the same way now."
Someone send this to Schumer for tomorrow.

1. A constituent should make the contact |

Non-constituents are not usually successful in getting messages through to senators and representatives.

3. Agreed. And I'd like a constituent to contact Specter, too. |
|
Have Arlen ask about stem cell research and Scalito's position on that. Specter, of all people, should demand that answer.

7. I'm sure the questions are going to get tougher. Dems have to |

ask and listen - but listen to funnel and focus and pin him down.
I don't think I've ever listened to a flip flopper like Alito since listening to George or listening to the WH where George says something at 11 am and someone in his cabinet has said the opposite at 9 am or by 2 pm.
Schumer is sharp, but let him know anyway. I just hope Dems have not made any deals.
Congratulations, ACLU and Boston Globe. You've got wisdom. This man is a stealth fixer.
