However, they will not be married, as Vermont only has civil unions (or am I missing something).

I heard him earlier with Sanders, Leahy, and Dean. Vermont has really outstanding lawmakers and a great former governor.

Only one state allows for equal marriage: Massachusetts. If they are in Vermont, they will get a separate but by no means equal civil union.
