Chevy Tahoe Ads: The Resluts Are In!
Yes, you read that right. I just got a notice regarding the Chevy Tahoe comeptition so many of us joyfully participated in and the first line of the e-mail is:

"The Resluts Are In."

Nice to hear, Chevy.

They also told me that "The commercial you submitted was strong but, after careful deliberation, we’ve decided to go in another direction". I guess they didn't like my comparison of driving Tahoe to having sex with a horse, but it's nice to know that they appreciated the artistic value and vision it stood for.

So, thnak you, Chrevolat, for an interesting web competition. Let's do it again next year for the totally new Chvey Shitvette.

3. To be honest...
I've actually made the "resluts"/"results" typo several times myself - I betcha you could find one right here in a past DU post if you looked long enough.

But then again, I'm not representing a major corporation when I make such errors. And I do, sometimes, actually mean "resluts", I'm just not sure why. ;)

Edited on Fri Apr-28-06 02:25 PM by ronnykmarshall
that on Countdown the other day Keith was talking about places like YouTube and online ads. They mentioned the Tahoe as contest and mention how some "liberal bloggers" made politcal statements with their ads!!

11. I have never had relations with a horse...
...but have driven a Tahoe. I am interested to hear how the two experiences are similar.

13. Sadly, my ads all myteriously disappeared.
Therefore, the best I can do is to describe it, and only in paraphrased form. But here's the gist:

1. "Driving A Chevy Tahoe: It's Just Like Fucking A Horse"
2. "You're in for a rough ride"
3. "It's too big to control"
4. "And if it rolls over...."
5. "You'll be killed."
6. "Drive a Tahoe. Fuck a horse. Same thing."

Accompanied by lovely product shots and driving, pulsating soundtrack, of course.

16. I would have cleaned it up.
Edited on Fri Apr-28-06 03:07 PM by MostlyLurks
I viewed it mostly as "proof of concept", more than a finished ad. I would have worked with Chevy's ad agency to clean up the language. For example:

"Drving A Chevy Tahoe Is As Thrilling As Sex With A Horse."

"Hang On For A Wild Ride!" (Note use of exclamation point to emphazise FUN! and EXCITEMENT!)

"You're About To Lose Control" (Note sly use of "sexed up" language to imply that Tahoe will make you ejaculate, nothing about the negatives of loss of equine/vehicular control. That's called "positive spin").

"And if it rolls over..."

"The airbags will save you" (To be accompanied by humorous shot of Ron Jeremy thrusting wildly into a horse, who would roll over in ecstasy and trigger a hidden airbag in his (horse's, not Ron Jermemy's) rump. Jeremy would then pop up, unscathed, and begin doing same to that Budweiser farting horse from a couple of Super Bowls ago. Perhaps jeremy would be wildly screaming "Ohhhh, Tahooooooe!" during this sequence, but that seems a bit gratuitous).

"Chevy Tahoe: Ride It, Cowboy"

So there. Is is my fault that the images they allowed you to pick from do not include the specific sequences I needed in order to accurately depict my vision?

Honestly, Chevy has no imagination.

Mostly

On Edit: Ironically, corrected typo.
