Poll question: Grade Democrats on Day 2 of Alito |
|
As I suspected, the Republicans on the committee helped Alito out by making him look sane and reasonable by contrast.
But how did the Democrats do?

12. Yes, and he came up with the "humble"answer |
|
He avoided the Bork "intellectual feast" response.

3. Just going by the play-by-play on DU: B- |
|
I think there were many opportunities to press the nominee further but overall there were some priceless moments.
Dems don't need to be afraid of the public. This strategy has not made them any more effective.
It's high time to kick ass and take down names.

8. Exactly. And when he couldn't remember his coached answers, they cued him |

They not only asked the "questions," they answered them, too.

9. From my perspective... |
|
Feinstein and Feingold did the best. I would give them both an A. Kennedy's line of questioning was good, however he barely concealed his anger and disgust. I would give him a B. Schumer did well and really boxed Alito on his statements from 1985, which he refused to answer. I would give him an A-. Biden, was disappointing. I would give him a B-. The others I didn't catch live, I just read the threads, so I would like to reserve judgement until I can catch it on the rerun somehow. It is so much different reading a transcript than watching the interchange.

11. Dems need to take a MUCH tougher stance! |
|
Hearing Biden tell A-LIE_TOE that "he's a man of integrity" makes me want to scream. These Dems need to get their shit together and push him hard while they can. Letting him sidestep Bush v Gore is so f'in stupid. They need to show some teeth before it's too late. Snap out of it! (except Feingold, who seems to have an inkling)
