You've got to be kidding me
Here's how much of a huge, weaselly, crooked liar Alito is.

Did you guys hear his answer when asked if he knew how much a Supreme Court Justice earns? He said he didn't know!!!!

Are you fucking kidding me? You're telling me that when you apply for a job, you don't check how much money you'll be making in the new position. OF COURSE YOU DO! And of course he did.

But see, Alito had it in his mind that he was going to spend the day lying so much -- he couldn't even answer a throw away question honestly.

My God. :banghead:

4. Alito quote (if the TRUTH be told):
"Tell the truth? I'm a Republican - how would I KNOW that? I didn't even know we were CAPABLE of doing that. Man, nobody tells me nuthin' around here."

3. Especially since it was in the news in the last few days
With Chief Clown Roberts calling for a large increase.... I suppose Scalito doesn't watch the news either... he's obviously a liar.

5. Actually, I believe him on that one...
It's not a job that you apply to based on the salary (I can't imagine any judge in the country saying "Supreme Court? Hmmm...I'll think about it. What's the pay scale?"), and given that he's already a judge he probably knows that it would at least be a raise. Anyway, why would he lie on that question?

9. I'm just saying that if you're a CEO making 3 million dollars
for one company, and you apply for a CEO position at another company, you're STILL going to check out the salary -- even if you don't need the money. I think you would, am I wrong? (not to sound like Bill O'Reilly)

15. I think most people would ask, for an ordinary job
But the SC is not really comparable to any other job - it's the utmost pinnacle of the judiciary - and it seems to me that the position is so desirable for other reasons that the salary would be somewhat trivial.

I'm in academia, and I can think of jobs for which, if they were offered to me tomorrow, I might not even bother to ask the salary.

Of course, he still may have lied, I'm just saying I wouldn't be surprised if this answer was true...

6. Charlie Rose is talking about Alito
The guy that wrote the article for Newsweek on Alito says that Alito is being boring which serves him well. It is all an act and they even had rehearsals.

12. It's not the point whether he cares. It whether he's curious
If a baseball player is making 9 million dollars a year, and is about to join another team, he will check out what the pay is.

He's not going to say, oh....well gee, I'll be making millions, but I'll just wait and be surprised when I get my first check.

Alito knows what a justice earns.

16. Baseball has contracts, agents
It's ALL about the money, totally different scenario. No, I don't think somebody getting appointed to the Supreme Court from the federal level is concerned with the salary, it's probably not that different. You think George Bush was concerned about the paltry $400,000 presidential salary?

19. So you're saying if you were up for a justice position,
you wouldn't be the least bit curious wondering, hmmmm, if I get the job (even though I have a ton of money in the bank and don't need a cent), I wonder what I'll get paid? -- and during a spare moment of your day, look up the salary....check into which health care plans are offered, etc., etc????

I understand he doesn't need the money, but there's such a thing a human curiosity.

20. He's got $250,000 in cash
Edited on Wed Jan-11-06 05:25 AM by sandnsea
Along with the rest of his assets. No, I wouldn't be worried about whether my paycheck was going up $1000 a month or $1500. Hard to imagine not even caring how much your paycheck is, I know.

On edit:

See post below, looks like it's about an $8000 a year raise up to around $200,000 a year. Nope, I don't think he gave it a thought.

14. he lied when he was asked if the supreme court should have
taken up bush v gore. he said he didn't know because he didn't study it. BULLSHIT! i was following that--the whole freakin country was following it and he's so damn smart but doesn't know if that was "judicial activism"?

LIAR!

he said he didn't remember that creepy little college club he belonged to (C.A.P.S) --the one he listed third on his resume when he applied for a job with reagan. the dirty little club that discriminates against everyone and even had bill frist and some other repukie distancing themselves from c.a.p.s.

LIAR LIAR PANTS ON FIRE!!!!

17. their salaries are public record!
http://usgovinfo.about.com/blctjustices.htm
Current salary for the Chief Justice is around $202,900 per year, while Associate Justices make about $194,200.

If he honestly didn't know, then he hasn't been paying attention. The subject was addressed in Roberts' recent yearly report on the courts. Who wants a justice who doesn't pay attention????

Moni

22. Well, I'm surprised and I'm not surprised...
You'd think the guy could honestly respond to AT LEAST ONE non-important question that he certainly knows the answer to -- (even though some on this post think he's an honest person and believe he doesn't have a clue know what a justice makes. Yea, Sherrrrrr.)

Even I know how much a justice earns.
