3. That show scared me!
The nutty evangelicals are really a danger to us all. They won't stop until they've installed a state religion.

4. Me too. It's hard for me to understand them. True believers
Edited on Fri Apr-28-06 09:30 PM by joemurphy
ready to take their pastor's interpretation of the Bible (and choice of politician) into their bosoms and go door-to-door for them.

The trouble I have with Evangelicals is that they cherrypick the portions of the Bible they choose to believe and disregard the rest. They invariably focus on Leviticus and ignore the Sermon on the Mount. They are the first to cast stones and never heed Jesus' injunction that such is only for those without sin. They would theocratize the state while disregarding Christ's injuction about rendering to Caesar only that which is Caesar's.

Communicating with True Believers (of any faith) is impossible. It's like talking to a zombie. They have to be de-programmed before there is any possibility of dialogue.

You're right. Fundies are a very scary group.

5. The cherry picking is what bothers me most
If they want to take everything in the Bible literally...then they need to take EVERYTHING. Including killing those who work on the sabbath, beating your slaves, etc. I wish the reporters who talk to them would ask them pointed questions. Why aren't they fighting to ban divorce since God was clearly against it. Also, why aren't they pushing to make masturbation a felony! Drives me nuts!!!

6. The sooner people start realizing that religion is a mental
disorder, the better off the human race and everything else on Earth will be.
