Neil Young and Pink Blame Wrong Leaders
Friday, April 28, 2006
By John Gibson
PHOTOS VIDEO

Neil Young, the Canadian singer who has been living in the U.S. for the last 40 years, has released a new album taking a shot at President Bush and the war in Iraq.

It's called "Living With War."

The line that struck me was, "I never bow to the laws of the thought police."

Another song is called "Let's Impeach the President." Impeach him for lying, impeach him for misleading us into war, for spying on people inside their own homes.

Debates with musicians are always problematical. You may have reason on your side, but they've got the rhythm section and the lead guitar. Hard to beat that.

Then there's Pink. She's got a new song called "Mr. President" in which she imagines taking a walk with the president and discussing war, No Child Left Behind, and asks him how he can live with himself.

1. He can't even get his own facts straight.
The film's called "United 93" not "Flight 93".

Oh, and there are one or two other facts he gets wrong, too. :eyes:

2. If this gets righties to listen to the music, let the asshat ramble on.
If any of these people have any functioning brain cells left, they might just get the message.

8. As a doctor, I can only sadly note that
your presupposition (theoretical) is not true. ie. these poor fellows
do not have what you and I would call brain cells that are still
functioning.

Actually, under a high powered microscope...what used to be brain
cells of the average freeper looks like the squiggles you see here
posted as emoticons.

Very troubling.

screen name, Ms., or is it MS, but defer to your medical opinion nonetheless.

4. John Gibson: An innocent man
you can't blame Mr. Gibson for expressing his opinion.
See...that pompadour is held in place with a special aluminum dust
based aerosal glutinous waxy sheeny stick-um that transmits the
radio signal from Rush Limbaughs drug engorged liver and spleen
straight to the slowly deteriorating cerebral cortex of Mr Gibson.

He is suffering.

5. He is a disgusting pig of a man who will burn more than others in hell.
Others of his ilk have their own personalities. But I believe Gibson doesn't believe half the stuff he spouts; no one could be such an ignoramus. That makes him contemptible beyond redemption. He does know how to make money, though, and to cater to the audience that watches "fair and balanced" Fox News. Because he knows that it isn't always black & white, yet panders to the very lowest common denominator, he deserves a place in the worst circle of Dante's hell.

7. Damn. I just got it. It was Bill Clinton's penis' fault. Ahh. I understand
Gibson was hired for the Faux neo-nazi look. The man is an idiot. Ever hear him be questioned? He is to news readers what Paris Hilton is to actresses.
And I apologize to Paris. Not that her 0.0005 cycle engine could comprehend it. But she is smarter than Gibson.

11. What a fucking simpleminded idiot
I wasn't aware that Saddam, or even anyone of Iraqi decent, was on Flight 93. Or for that matter, ordered the attack on Flight 93.

And it's real rich of him to mention bin Laden, because HE'S NOT IN IRAQ EITHER. He's still free as a bird so he can make videotapes. Bush "isn't concerned about him", REMEMBER?

Idiot.

"Neil Young, the Canadian singer who has been living in the U.S. for the last 40 years, has released a new album taking a shot at President Bush and the war in Iraq.

He's contributed his fair share of taxes, serious taxes I'm sure over the years. And as any Neil fan knows, he's no one trick pony like the Faux News Talking Point kids!

It's hard to compete with the rhythm section and the lead guitar, he says. Yeah, just like the visual stimulus of the symbolism of the U.S. flag, the audio stimulus of the music of "God Bless the U.S.A." and other shit like that. He apparently doesn't have any problem with that. Did he write a column about the unfair manipulative effects of the Star-Spangled Banner?

15. I will ask again, Mr. Gibson
Edited on Fri Apr-28-06 09:17 PM by Jack Rabbit
Why did Bush invade Iraq when Saddam had no working relationship with either of the two terrorists you named?

If there was a good reason to invade Iraq, why didn't Mr. Bush or his aides say so? Why did they tell us that they knew Saddam was harboring a biochemical arsenal, "reconstituting" a nuclear weapons program or had ties to international terrorists when they knew nothing of the sort? Obviously, they didn't know any of that for a fact. None of it was true.

So why, if they had a good reason to go into Iraq, did they have to make up reasons?

By the way, Mr. Gibson, what was that good reason? You act as if you know, so please share it with us. We haven't heard it from anybody in the regime in the last three years. We haven't heard it on FoxNews, either. All we hear from you and others at FoxNews are the lies the regime wants us to believe.

16. THANK YOU MR. GIBSON......
Edited on Fri Apr-28-06 09:19 PM by ShaneGR
The people who are reading or listening to you will in most circumstances want to ilisten to Neil Young's album or Pink's song. I'm betting a good percentage of current Bush supporters who are questioning his leadership will finally reject him. If you consider Bush's current approval ratings fall anywhere from 32% to 35%, over the summer with Iraq a mess and gas prices resting firmly above $3.00 a gallon, it's safe bet for ratings below 30%.

Thank you John. We love you.

Sincerely,

The Left side of you.

21. The ends of his argument don't connect.
His whole rant hinges on the idea we are fighting 911 terrorists in Iraq.

In the past I just disagreed with the selective truth telling of Republican spin.

Lately it's just been bizarre and disconnected. The result of so much hypocrisy and so many contradictions I suppose.

22. very impressive article!
I'm particularly amazed at how he got through the entire article without saying anything remotely logical.

What does Osama have to do with the war in iraq again? I mean, Gibson hints at it, like we're supposed to know what the fuck he's talking about.

And the United 93 movie? That's about Iraq too?

I bet he has the low-down on what all the cool cats are "swingin'" to, nowadays, daddy-o.

What's with these god-damn talentless pinhead pundits -this shitstain, Laura Ingraham, etc.-- bloviating on and on and on and on about musicians?

(At least musicians actually fucking DO something. "Shut up and sing"? What the fuck do you contribute to society, Laura? I would tell you to shut up and sing, but I bet you can't do that, either.)

Here's an idea, John, you Pat-Boone-lookin' fuckin' goober, why don't you call Ted Nugent's loincloth and ask him where all the talented right wing musicians are?

Yeah, I thought so.
