Twice today I saw our illustrious President speaking and just can't believe his nerve. First, Bush was commenting on the recording of the National Anthem in Spanish. "I believe that if someone wants to become a citizen of the United States they should learn to speak English." Come again? This President of all people has the unmitigated gall to tell others to learn English? What's next, Refrigerator Perry giving weight loss tips? Barry Bonds giving public relations advice? Michael Jackson telling us how not to appear weird? I figured it couldn't get worse, but Oh yes, it could. The President was giving a news conference and David Gregory had the audacity to point out that emperor Bush hadn't answered the question. Bush took a cheap shot at Mr. Gregory by stating he would hire him but he couldn't pass a backround check. Amazing. This is the same Bush whose cocaine use got discussed only because he was asked if he could have passed a backround check for his father's administration and had to admit he couldn't have. I sincerely look forward to hearing advice on running marathons by Speaker Hassert.

That said, it is better for immigrants to learn the language, so they can get better jobs IMO. I don't want immigrants of any sort (legal ones) to be only used for laborious, low paying jobs. I was shocked to find that not one person of color, black or brown, that worked at NASA had a job that required them to read, back in 1997 or so. Shameful.
