IRS has a new deduction: body armor for children serving in armed forces |

Just heard on Bernie Ward's stream.
UNFUCKINGBELIEVABLE!
Buy the armor for your kid. Get a tax break.
UNFUCKINGBELIEVABLE!
Better yet, you don't get to write off the entire cost. Deduction is a percentage.
No deductions for shipping and handling.
UNFUCKINGBELIEVABLE!

1. What the soldiers need to do is to incorporate and file as a business. |
|
Then the body armor AND shipping reduces their income dollar-for-dollar. Anyone can do this as a sole-proprietor and file schedule-C as long as they have income from one other source and the expense is related to the outside source (certain limits apply to qualify though).

2. Can they claim the lose of an appendage? |
|
What would be the rate for that and would the rate still apply if the Army knew where it was? They can't really claim they lost it when the army has it in a freezer somewhere, can they?
