A different take on Oxy-Rush
Edited on Sat Apr-29-06 09:25 AM by ixion
I've seen alot of threads calling for the jailing of Rush for his personal drug habits.

Really, though, I think it proves a more salient point: drug use -- a.k.a. consciousness altering -- is a natural human tendency, and despite what fat-boy and a bunch of fascists say, the WoD is a waste of time and money and (most importantly) human life and should be ended.

Recreation/Habitual drug use is a personal matter for humans, just like abortion is for a woman.

I think Oxy-Rush is a blow-hard, windbag hate-monger, and a Class A moron. However, I also think that he ought not to be chastised for his personal drug use just because I don't like his politics.

That's the American way, IMO.

Let's use this issue to never let him talk about mandatory sentencing, or the so-called War on Drugs ever again.

Thank you for your attention. :patriot:

1. I only say to lock him up cause so many others (without good lawyes) would
be locked up. But I agree--this war on drugs is a waste! of people, resources, our freedoms. etc etc.

2. I totally understand
I used to listen to him back in the early nineties (work truck with AM radio) and used to froth when he'd spew his oxy-addled comments about zero tolerance and blah, blah, blah.

Believe me, I'm not trying to appeal for leniency, really, only pointing out that 10's of thousands of non-violent drug user's have their lives ruined in the name of society trying to 'help' them. It's a terrible thing -- it's prohibition -- and the only thing that will resolve it is to repeal it and allow people to live their lives.

Having fat-boy in the spotlight creates a prime moment to bring that point to bear, IMO.

3. I agree. None should be locked up; but thousands have been.
BushAmerican justice is a farce.

All the pigs are equal. Some are more equal than others.

4. I agree, and don't really have a problem with Rush except for
the hypocrisy I suspect - he's doing what he condemns in others, so throw the book at him. But in general as long as he is willing to deal with the consequences without help from government (his mantra anyway), I say let him deal with that. And others.

It would save us a lot in law enforcment costs.

5. When the rules are enforced equally, he can be set free. Until
then, lock him up to shut him up!

6. well, you're right... that would shut him up
which would be doing society a favor, IMO...

but you know even if he does time it's going to be at some minimum security place, or even home jail.

7. and how ironic is it that he needs to be an addict...
Edited on Sat Apr-29-06 09:49 AM by Mend
he must be filled with self-loathing, depression, and anxiety or he wouldn't be acting the way he is. I keep that in mind when I see his special treatment...this guy is incapable of joy as we know it. His psyche is his jail.

10. Any of us, at a MINIMUM, would have to take drug tests
as a condition for this kind of a deal.

13. That's the problem with us "liberals"...
We think too much!

You and I see the WoD as bullshit and unfairly enforced. We see a whole pile of better alternatives. We see victimless crime. We see...

The Rightards see Good and Bad.. and they define those terms using something near their navel, rather than their brain. If they get confused... Rev. Billybob will help them find the right - and I do mean Right - conclusion.
