"Blunt, DeLay Abramoff Connections Similar"...RUH ROH.
This article is VERY long and I can only snip 4 paragraghs! These were some JUICY pieces of the article, but you really should read the whole thing. Blunt MAY NOT end up ML after this is all said and done. His Delay connections may just do him in.

Blunt, DeLay Abramoff Connections Similar
By LARRY MARGASAK, Associated Press Writer
2 hours ago

<snip>Texas prosecutors recently subpoenaed records of a series of financial transactions in 2000 between DeLay and Blunt that were highlighted in a recent AP story.<snip>

<snip>Blunt's wife, Abigail Perlman, is a lobbyist for Kraft Foods, part of Altria, the company that also includes Philip Morris. The parent firm and its companies have contributed nearly $224,000 to Blunt's political organizations since 2001, according to figures compiled by a campaign finance tracking firm, Political MoneyLine.<snip>

<snip>Shortly after Blunt became the party whip in 2002, he tried to quietly insert a provision benefiting Philip Morris USA into the bill creating the Homeland Security Department.<snip>

<snip>In spring 2000, an Abramoff client accused of running a sweatshop garment factory in the Northern Mariana Islands donated $3,000 to Blunt's political organization. The company, Concorde Garment Manufacturing, paid a $9 million penalty to the U.S. government in the 1990s for failing to pay workers overtime. The company was visited by DeLay.

9. To put it Blount-ly...Next!
John Kerry said that "they," were all "crooks and liars" and it turns out he was exactly right. America is starting to wake up and smell the piggy poo in Washington. Who could possibly replace Tom Delay but another republican crook?

They can search Washington from one end to the other, for an "honest republican," but they will never find any such republican anywhere near Washington. The GOPers on capitol hill are all in this national calamity together and in perfect lock-step with the bushco marching band...of thieves...outlaws...and gangsters. If any GOPer breaks ranks now, they all go down oinking, like the sand in the hour glass, or the proverbial turd in the proverbial punch bowl. They who have tread in this sticky political voo-doo doo-doo, can't rake the stink from their lock-stepping political jack boots, fast enough. I have to admit that this current GOP implosion, is kind of fun to watch!

Q. How will they replace Tom Delay with an honest republican?

A. It can and will, never happen...

6. Oh yeah, he is. That's because
they've lost the ability to REMEMBER the difference between corrupt and honest. They are SO entrenched in this scandal, they have lost track of all of their dirty deals. There's SO many, they have forgotten certain important facts and neglected to cover their tracks? When you LIE about things, it's IMPOSSIBLE to keep track of all those LIES. When you are HONEST and tell the TRUTH, it's very easy to remember. LIES ALWAYS come back to bite you in the ass. My 12 year old knows THAT! FINALLY, it's catching up to them. Karma's a bitch.

4. how does Phillip Morris benefit from Homeland Security?
that makes about as much sense as when the put the Alaska drilling thing in the defense spending bill!! What does that have to do with defense spending? It doesn't!!

At this point, it will probably be hard to find any Republican in DC who is not a part of the DeLay/Abramoff corruption but that shouldn't stop them from trying to find someone reputable.

Ruh Roh.........haha, that was cute!

5. Cough cough, hack ...... a big large hawker coming you're way soon...argh!
Shortly after Blunt became the party whip in 2002, he tried to quietly insert a provision benefiting Philip Morris USA into the bill creating the Homeland Security Department.

Taylor said the provision would have cracked down on the illegal sale of contraband cigarettes, a documented source of funding for terrorist organizations. Bipartisan legislation to achieve the same result has passed as part of the USA Patriot Act, she said.

In his ties to Abramoff, Blunt was among nearly three dozen members of Congress, including leaders from both parties, who pressed the government to block a Louisiana Indian tribe from opening a casino. The lawmakers received donations from rival tribes and their lobbyist, Abramoff, around the same time.

7. ALSO..REMEMBER...they tried to stopped the Native American Reservations
Edited on Wed Jan-11-06 07:43 AM by in_cog_ni_to
from selling CIGARETTES on their reservations and on the internet(s)? I think it had something to do with a loss in TAX revenue? Reservations weren't charging taxes and to protect kids who could buy online (at least those were their EXCUSES...$$$$$ in Philip Morris' pockets is the REAL reason) Philip Morris was losing money, no doubt.

Here. A quick search about the Cigarette/Reservation issue....LOOK who's complaining. PHILIP MORRIS. It's all connected.

"We have many concerns about sales of tobacco products over the Internet," says Philip Morris (nyse:
MO - news - people) spokesman Tom Ryan. "All of our products should be sold in compliance with
existing laws."
