Jews in Iran
I am not sure what category to post this under so hopefully general discussion is appropriate. I was wondering what the conditions are like for the Jews still in Iran and also, if Iran were ever attacked by Israel or the US would the Iranians do something to these Jews? Has this ever been talked about by any Iranian leaders? Thanks for any info!

1. I knew some years ago
They kept themselves low key, but didn't hide or anything like that. Hell, I stayed pretty low key when I lived there--it was just common sense. I also knew a ton of Armenian Iranians...you went to them for your canadian-style bacon, your homemade wine, and your Christmas tree!

I would imagine that under the Ayatullahs, nowadays, things aren't too pleasant for them.

2. Is there much opportunity to practice Judaism?
I wouldn't think such a thing would be possible, but I don't really know.

4. Nowadays, no, but when I was there, everyone was fairly mellow
in the cities. You'd go to Mashed or Qom, and they were pretty serious, but in the cities, religious tolerance ruled the day.

The only freedoms that were abrogated back then were political ones...

3. not very well and probably kill them
but the Iranians and the Israelis have no problems when they need to work a business deal or aid in earthquake reconstruction.

5. I worked with a Dr.
from Iran who was Jewish. He told me that they weren;t actively persecuted, but if something went down it was your door they would knock on first. He also told me that the Iranian people actually like Americans, but hate the government policies.
