Gas company profits Q1 2006 - Exxon $8 billion, Chevron $4 billion
Chevron Corp. joined the parade of oil companies reporting king-size profits Friday, announcing that high crude prices helped boost first-quarter earnings 49% to $4 billion.

Exxon Mobil Corp. brought home huge barrels of money in the first three months of the year — more than any first quarter in company history, the oil giant said Thursday — but it was less than Wall Street expected.

The Irvine, Texas-based company's $8.4-billion net income for the quarter added fuel to accusations from politicians, state officials and consumer groups that the oil industry is pocketing hefty profits while motorists grapple with $3-per-gallon gasoline.

1. Yes but remember, they have nothing to do with the price of a
barrel of oil... not their fault.... however, paying ex ceo's 40 million to get out of dodge is their fault.

3. I drive a Prius and gas prices hardly affect me
as I only drive 5-6,000 miles/yr.

Buy a hybrid.

4. BTW apparently the great Exon boycott of 2006
has begun. Businesses that sell their gas, A whole county in Texas and numerouse others are seemingly spontaniously and uncoridinated seem to be popping up all over the place. Even O'Really getting into the act stating he'll never spend another penny on Exon gas. Said it right on his show at FOX. This is a boycott that could stick if I read my boycotts correctly. It's the spontinaity that makes me say this.
