"The pictures the US doesn't want you to see."
WhiskerBiscuit has a diary over at DKos with some shocking photos of our soldiers' injuries. Tough stuff.
(Warning from Kpete - I could not look at all of them - but I did not need to...)

If the American public could see the damage that the war in Iraq was wreaking on the people of Iraq, it would give them pause. If they could see the damage that the war was wreaking on American soldiers themselves, they would run screaming.

I found an article about a visit by Denzel Washington to visit Brook Army Medical Center. It includes a huge number of photographs of soliders who have been injured in Iraq -- recovering, spending time with their families, and just getting by.

WARNING: Some of the pictures are bloody and horrible.

The article, in Spanish, is here: http://www.voltairenet.org/article136827.html
The photos need no translation.

For whatever reason, the US press doesn't generally discuss the story of our soldiers wounded in Iraq, much less depict them visually. Is it simply because some of the pictures are awful to look at, and they're afraid of exposing young children and those of delicate constitution to images that might cause permanent harm -- or is it part of a political agenda? I don't know.

No verbal description of the war ever hit me as hard as this photographic essay. It seems like there has to be some way to get this message across, in a way that the press will find tenable. But how?

1. US Press doesn't want to talk about soldiers putting
guns to their OWN heads either.

The criminals must pay for this!

4. Those "right-to-lifers' ride around with pics of aborted fetuses, but
I would be willing to bet they would consider graphic pictures of wounded soldiers and Iraqi civilians unsuited for public consumption!!!

Their hypocrisy makes me so angry I could just spit on them when I encounter them.

5. Just an observation on George Bush.
He objects to the "Star Spangled Banner" being sung in Spanish. We only see these images in foreign media. Perhaps that is also objectionable.

8. Of course..
it wouldn't surprise me if the old battleax is saying she wouldn't want to waste her beautiful eyes and mind looking at these pix..wonder IF it would change their minds (?)if their children were there and this happened to them..I have a feeling that they're po'd that they HAVE to visit these/our sons/daughters instead of chugging the bottle and smoking those cigs..I haven't seen any sympathy in any of their eyes or have I seen any "sincerity" in their comments to them or their families..Then, they have the gaul to say they're short on troops over there--of course they are---they've FORGOTTEN how many came home in body bags, and how many were blown apart to smitherines that they can't ID them, unless they found what might be remaining of their dog tags, but who's to really say those dog tags, if found, were really the person they're looking for.

I have a question--has anyone here attended a funeral of any of these military people who came home in a body bag? Are the families allowed to view the body, or, are those caskets empty & they just have a pix of the person who was killed?

I don't forget when they were changing the laws on lawsuits on anything that might occur so the people couldn't sue them for anything that happens, those lethtal injections included?

9. To think there are thousands of wounded like this, not to mention
those who come home with mental health issues. And the Iraqis? Well, according to Bushitler, we don't care about them anyway.
