Bush Admin. Wants To Prosecute Reporters
Earlier administrations have fired and prosecuted government officials who provided classified information to the press. They have also tried to force reporters to identify their sources.

But the Bush administration is exploring a more radical measure to protect information it says is vital to national security: the criminal prosecution of reporters under the espionage laws.

12. Well, I have to say it wouldn't really surprise me if it did happen..
They've already gone after several artists, and that would be within the same spectrum..

7. I think his circle is getting smaller and smaller
and i wonder if he isn't just in locked phase of just constant knee jerk reactions.

He obviously has no use for the constitution--congress really needs to reel him in...

6. Bait and switch?
The bush administration, who has had one of the most tightly controlled press ever, wants to blame the press for what exactly? The Plame affair?

They have No respect for the constitution. None. They take any premise, any law, any precedent and twist it to their own agenda. I don't know law, but this sounds very, very scary.

13. Libby & Rove declare they are reporters now?
That way they can say they were doing a public service in leaking the former covert CIA agent Plumes identity so that Americans can know what the government was up to.
