Those Damned Auto-Camera RED LIGHT Tickets -- Advice? |
|
Hey DUers, I don't know if they have these everywhere but here in LA there are certain "photo enforced" traffic lights, if you get your picture snapped when you're stuck in an intersection, bam, you get a ticket in the mailbox a week later, SUCKS!
Anyhow -- my hub got one and he inadvertently sent a check with no date. It looks like the clerk made a mistake processing it, they sent it back with a blank form letter on why it was returned. Like all these boxes, and nothing checked. We noticed someone (not him) wrote the date in the check, so he figures they must have done that, realized they can't do it and then returned the check but forgot to say why.
Do you think he can get off on a clerical error?

1. Here's what I would do: |
|
Take a photo of the check, and send it back.

2. I'd call and ask how long I had to pay the ticket before arrest warrent |
|
issued... and I'd stop doing whatever it was that earned the citation in the first place.

3. See, that is why they say... |
|
that you never enter an intersection unless your exit from it is clear. That way you WON'T get caught in the intersection, avoid the red light ticket altogether.
As for getting off the ticket, I would assume that it is your responsibility to send a properly formatted check - their form letter is just a courtesy to help you figure out what is wrong. I doubt you will be allowed to claim "clerical error" to avoid paying the fine.

4. I wish we had those cameras around her |
|
I am so tired of people running RED red lights and almost hitting me. Seriously, I pause before I go because sometimes three or four cars run the light. That and acting like the left lane on a city road is the interstate fast lane are the two things here that drive me bonkers,,, and are dangerous.

Sometimes you can't make a left if you don't have an arrow, unless you get right in the intersection when a yellow forces oncoming traffic to slow down, then it turns red before you've completed your left turn.

8. There are some things that are said to work |

they are along the lines of obscurement of some sort. The polish combined with a polarizing filter work pretty well.
I ride a MC most of the time. With the tail bag on the cameras can not see the plate.

6. My friend got a ticket, was behind a car, both making lefts,... |
|
then the dumbshit ahead of him slowed way down, leaving my friend hanging out to dry in the intersection.

10. Check the statute of limitations on it. |
|
In AZ the time limit on that was six months. (It could be different now.) If they don't get you withing six months, it's dismissed.
Also, married couple were cross-registering their cars. If it wasn't the owner driving, and he/she couldn't identify the driver -- dismissed.
Check your local statutes.
