i'm a critic, so sue me. highly disappointing overall in my cranky opinion. i've already accepted the fact that alito is our boy for the next several miserable decades.

1. I disagree with your assessment. I thought they did well.
And that they're well-positioned to continue that way.

2. There does seem
to be a general lack of leadership among the Dems. Plenty of talk, but little action. It puzzles me what the problem is.

3. Yup
This is just a prelude to all the standing ovations they will give Bush in the upcoming state of the union speech. You may recall how Republicans refused to stand when Clinton spoke in those speeches. But the Democrats are just too timid to do the same. It makes me wonder if their leadership are a bunch of Rpeublicans in disguise.

Shame.

4. The BOMBS drop today.
Feingold knows SOMETHING. He does. SOMETHING BIG IS COMING. (just a hunch ;)) This is only going to get better as the days go by. I thought the Dems did a great job yesterday. EXCEPT for the damn 30 minute speeches and long-windedness, they did well. ScAlito is the one who did shitty.:)

7. : ) I understand.
5+ years of this crap has made me pretty pessimistic too, but I think our Dems on the committee know how important this nomination is. They will protect us and our Constitution.

6. Ask Alito to name two times he ever voted against his own interest
or two times he decided against "power' in favor of people. (James Carville)

8. Or when he stood alone
on principle, against the powers-that-be--when he refused to suck up to those who could do him favors. God, he gives me the creeps. SG :scared:

9. I feel your disappointment
mopaul, but there were a few bright spots. Biden? worse than useless. But, a couple of the others did a decent job--especially Feingold and Schumer. Feinstein wasn't a write off either. What other tactic is open to them, except calling the guy a liar in front of the world and walking out? I'd love to see it, but it ain't gonna' happen in the hallowed halls of govmint. Parliamentary "politesse" is the order of the day. SG
