Colbert Impeaches George Bush |
|
Satirist Attacks Bush in Scathing Performance
Steven Colbert impeached the president tonight. He did it with a grin on his face, and under the thin cover of satire. The attack was strong, biting, and clearly uncomfortable for everyone in the room. The president, who has repeatedly refused to acknowledge the obvious, was forced to bear witness to the brutal truth. While the press looked on with nervous embarrassment, the president and first lady sat frozen. One could only imagine they were pondering who would get fired for permitting this humiliating crucifixion.
The only people in the room who appeared comfortable were Helen Thomas, Joe Wilson, and of course Steven Colbert. Others appeared too shocked to fully grasp the full extent of the damage.
Left leaning blogs such as Daily Kos and Democratic Underground burst into applause. The corporate media staggered to respond to the blows it had received and blamed Colbert for a poor performance. The Iraqi people, dying in the streets by the thousands, had no response.

I don't have a link or time but look under white house correspondence dinner. Stephen Colbert was a speaker and he gave the whole administration a verbal beat down.

Bush is so careful about surrounding himself with sycophants, from his administration to town hall meetings.
But tonight before a national audience, he gets raked over the coals by someone he has probably never even heard of before.
Love, love, love it!

13. He was f-ing brilliant. Ass kicked Bush and Press! |
|
No one was laughing as he put his foot in bush's ass time and time again. Then he started in on the Press. And they were still not laughing.
See the repeat if you can.

26. The impact on the press will be greater than the pres. |
|
some of those comments went over his head.
The press was embarrassed by being taken in for 6 years, and they now regret it. Seeing it rubbed in their faces should wake them all up.

He proved this beyond doubt tonight.
Bravo Stephen -- you've given us one for the ages. Final nail in Bush's coffin? Wake up call to the lapdogs? More likely, he accomplished in our day something like the scene in Gladiator, when Maximus confronts the Emperor and wins the love of The People.

|
Wilson and (covert) Plame was in the audience , now who in this blog would take their wife to a roast of the guy (bush) that outed his wife? It does not make sense. There would only be ONE reason I would want to be there if he outed my wife, and thats to kick his ass all over the place and I'm not a big fighter.

28. It's not quite like that... |
|
From what I understand, certain groups are given tables at the event, then those groups in turn invite others. Usually when something like this happens, it's almost a sign of protest when they show up, not a sign of support. So Wilson/Plame were not personal invites from Bush. In fact, I believe C-SPAN said that they were guests of ABC News (interestingly enough).
