A picture is worth a thousand words. The story is pretty good, too.
This is a young man, returned from Iraq, who told the world about the use of white phosphorus back in November..Fantastic article, I hope you take the time to read it.

Jeff Englehart sat at an outdoor cafe on Tejon Street in downtown Colorado Springs, sipping beer and catching up on his website, which was jumping with traffic after his appearance on a national radio show.

Two months earlier, an Italian television crew set up bright lights and studio umbrellas and talked to Englehart for five hours. The journalists' documentary, in which Englehart was quoted as saying he believed the incendiary white phosphorus was used on Iraqi civilians, had been released early on Nov. 8.

During his year as a gunner on a Humvee in Baqubah, Iraq, in the Sunni Triangle, Englehart imagined there would be days like this. He told himself that if he made it home in anything other than a body bag, he would make his voice heard. He would tell people about the atrocities of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

snip>

As he surveyed the carnage - metal, concrete, machine parts everywhere - he saw it so clearly: a child's severed foot in a sandal.
"It was a tiny little foot in a pink sandal," Englehart said. "That's the only way I can rationalize it being a girl. There's no way of knowing for sure, but it was a child.
"It's something that will never leave me."

2. God bless our veterans
Let's give them all the support in the world, and hopefully we won't have a generational psychic problem like we did after Viet Nam.

4. I guarantee that we will.
People are simply not wired to experience things like that.

24. As a veteran (non combat) myself, I agree whole heartedly.
They need to experience support and caring.

They'll need it more than we can imagine. MKJ

6. Duke had ethics once
He ended up selling them to a shady ethics transplant operation in the Bahamas, so that businessmen and politicians who were under investigation could have them surgically implanted for a veneer of ethical respectibility. How do you think Duke got the seed money for his long and "interesting" career?

11. Now- THIS is a man of courage- and
honor.

Thank you for posting this-
The honesty and boldness which fills this article, is something this country, and WORLD needs alot more of- I wish him and his Raia a long and fulfilling life together-

Speaking the truth, even with a shaking voice-
speaking the truth, even when it makes you a target,
speaking the truth, even when it exposes your own guilt, mistakes and regrets,
speaking the truth, when silence would be so much easier in the short run-

THAT is courage- THAT is what a true patriot does.

The truth is the only thing that will really set us all free.

17. Thanks to all of you for the "R"'s. A link to hEkLe's blog. Amazing stuff
As you may have deduced, hEkLe is Jeff Englehart.

This blog contains posts, poetry and other writings from Jeff and his fellow soldiers.

BTW, this picture was the top half of the front page of the Denver Post. Slowly, the MSM is starting to hear these voices. MKJ

23. Heartbreaking story.
My heart goes out to all effected by this war. I am so glad people like "Jeff" are telling the truth. I fear it will take years before average Americans digest what happened and continues to happen under this leadership.

And Ed Schultz dares criticize Murtha for saying he wouldn't enlist?

25. A snippet from the blog. They call themselves "The Statistics"
Edited on Wed Jan-11-06 09:30 PM by BleedingHeartPatriot
A post from one of Jeff's fellow soldiers.

It has not been a year since I have left the combat zone and sleep no longer comes so easy. I am anxious and thoughts of my fellow soldiers struggling with injuries and mental illness keep me awake. My actions and experiences of war plague my dreams. I have seen veterans with missing limbs, paralyzed bodies, and disfigured appearances overcome their disabilities. However, something still interferes with our healing, the fact that we were betrayed and used abusively by our administration. The fact that we sacrificed and now suffer for ulterior motives by our own leaders hurts far greater than the visible wounds. However, our sacrifice need not be in vain.
