To MSNBC, CNN, etc, etc, & all the sniveling cowards who work for you
You are not reporters. You are parrots for George Bush. Every single one of you ought to be ashamed of yourselves. I wanted to see some coverage this morning of the protests in NY, and instead I got George Bush, the black-tie dinner, illegal immigrants protests, & religious diets rammed down my throat.

Nice coverage you had there of the 300,000 people marching in NYC yesterday in protest of your boss. Oh wait! You had no coverage, unless you call a 7-second clip showing a tiny fraction of the crowd and one sentence saying "There was a protest march in NYC yesterday that was several blocks long" coverage.

I love how you're spending a great percentage of your shows this morning on the protests of the Illegal Immigrants, yet you only show a fleeting glimpse of the massive public protest against your boss, George Bush, in NYC which just took place! How nice of you to show the Illegal Immigrants protests with wide-angle cameras which capture the extent and size of their parades, yet for the hundreds of thousands of protesters who protested against Bush in NYC you made it look like it was 30 or 40 people and you only gave it 7 or 8 seconds out of your entire newscast shows. You don't even have the guts to show a few of the cool signs for fear of losing your jobs!

You are all in cahoots and your strings are all being pulled by the right wing. If that isn't true, then why are you all spending a great deal of time this morning showing the same things, such as those long tedious clips this morning about those faith-based religious diets where people claim to be losing weight by praying to God or those clips today of what states have the highest percentage of church-goers (Alabama, & a bunch of other southern states) and which states have the lowest percentage of church-goers (Vermont, Mass, & the Northeast). Yet you only give 7 seconds of your alloted time to the massive protests on the streets of New York.

I also love how you've been sucking up to your fearless leader today by showing replay after replay of his comedy routine at the black-tie dinner where the Imbecile in Chief "pokes fun at himself" with that god-awful NOT FUNNY routine of he and his double. Funny, though, how you don't like to cover the other part of the show that wasn't so funny to George and Laura.

Watching your shows today proves Fox isn't the only one who's a mouthpiece for Republicans. You all are.

You are all doing your part in polluting the earth by littering the airwaves with sound bites promoting Bush. You are all George Bush's biggest enablers, and you and the minions who work for you are pathetic little cowards, just like him, because you refuse to stand up for what's right.

You can take your black-tie comedy routine of George and his double and shove it. It's nothing but a feeble attempt to show the good side of George Bush. I've got some news for you. There IS no good side to that monster. Shame on you all. You are all scared little mice who are afraid to show the protesting that's going on. You're all cowards, and you're all afraid of your jobs!

2. It's called "Honor Among Thieves" if the media showed any real
news now, which is the conseqences of their pathetic "journalism" over the past several years, they'd not only implicate Bush, but also themselves. And if they showed highlights of Colbert instead of Bush 9from last night) people would see just how incompetent journalists are in this country--they're covering for themselves and each other.

16. How can a free press exist, when the press is AFRAID to laugh?
AFRAID to speak truth to power?

Colbert embarrassed them with the truth last night, which is their job, and in part, explains their shame. Their collective fear, registered in nervous giggles, of laughing when B* was being insulted, was all too apparent!

Which I doubt.

understand (maybe dimly) their role in the current atrocities of corruption and death.

19. My impression is that they're in total complete denial about their own
shame, to the point that they continue to behave "shamelessly".

If I were one of them and I had to take a good hard look in the mirror of my deeds, and acknowledge what a cretin I'd become, I'd be strongly tempted to jump off the Golden Gate Bridge.

Maybe mass suicide by all these media whores wouldn't be such a bad thing anyway - it would create openings for a whole fresh crop of young "journalists" who hadn't yet reaped the material rewards of selling out - anything new would have to be an improvement over the status quo.

6. Corporate media is complicit - lulling the public to sleep
I beleive the lack of media attention and their failure to report the truth has contributed to the mess we have in our country now. I remember the news coverage in the 60's and 70's - you could trust the media then.

29. You are so right, & not only has their failure to cover the real stories
contributed to the mess, but it makes them partly RESPONSIBLE for the mess. By turning their cheeks away from the real stories, and spending all day on some comedy routine between Bush and his twin dummy, they are Bush's biggest enablers. I hope these news stations and their reporters are all proud of themselves, the gutless pukes that they are. Each and every last one of them is afraid of their job.

They're too preoccupied (and deafened) by the slurping sounds they make while on their knees under Fuckface's Oval Office desk, performing their daily duties.

Shame on them for their craven ambitions - all they want is the paycheck and the fame.

Swine.

And my apologies to all the good pigs out there.

11. The part of me that used to think this was a free country
ran to the TV thinking for one crazy moment that Stephen Colbert's triumph would be all over the news...Wrong! Bush's "handlers must have been very pleased with themselves to think that they came up with a ruse, that pathetic attempt at "good natured humor" with that double. Just shows what idiots they takes us for, that we think it's funny that our lame ass prez can't even speak for himself or pronounce the name of the weapon that he plans to kill millions of people with...And now there going to try to sweep the brilliant moment of truth that Colbert graced us with, under the rug. I was elated last night. This morning, sick again.

15. 4.7%? Not Likely.
Edited on Sun Apr-30-06 10:40 AM by mcscajun
March 2006 Unemployment figures, Not seasonally adjusted:

U3: 4.8%

U6: 8.5%

http://www.bls.gov/news.release/pdf/empsit.pdf

U6 is the measure that takes into account the long-term unemployed and underemployed. It portrays the truth of our employment situation, not the gloss government likes to put on it.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) maintains six unemployment figures, U-1 through U-6, but the media only report U-3. The most inclusive figure, U-6, the BLS defines as "Total unemployed, plus all marginally attached workers, plus total employed part time for economic reasons, as a percent of the civilian labor force plus all marginally attached workers" where the following definitions apply:

Marginally attached workers are persons who currently are neither working nor looking for work but indicate that they want and are available for a job and have looked for work sometime in the recent past.

Discouraged workers, a subset of the marginally attached, have given a job-market related reason for not currently looking for a job.

Persons employed part time for economic reasons are those who want and are available for full-time work but have had to settle for a part-time schedule.

Unemployment here is prob. >8.5%; it's why people have such a hard time finding a job. Here's an interesting pdf of an interview w/an economist who says our unemployment rate is prob. at least 12%.

14. Oh, so well stated! M$M is currently singing praises to the fully clothed
emperor, Hail to the "Comedian-in-Chief"

No coverage that I've witnessed yet on Colbert's brilliant satire. And minimal coverage of the War protestors.

I used to wonder how America could be so ill informed. I no longer have ANY doubts, and Colbert was brutal in his assessment of the role the Media played in this maladministrations abuse of power and corruption. It is a very sad commentary on our times that the most decent coverage of news comes to us in the form of comedians and the internet.

:kick: and R!

not fitting with the glamorous image they have of themselves.

I just thought that bit of whine at the beginning was so telling. Shoot, I worked in a windowless cubicle in a basement for 5 years till I was moved to 3rd floor to a windowless cubicle. In March, they moved me clear out of the building. Now I have to find another job.

For the salaries they make, the last place they should be is sitting in one of those cubicles. They should be out investigating stories.

... the Bush corporate party and the media that props them up. Great post! I quit watching TV news some time ago. CNN's Paula Zahn triggered my gag reflex one too many times, and that was the last straw for me. So it is only via posts such as yours that I know what they are covering - or not covering.
