I just couldn't believe it when John Stewart went on CrossFire and told those CNN hacks the truth to their faces. The show was canceled very soon after that. I think Colbert had a similar test of meddle at that dinner last night. Amazing...

2. Very good analogy!
Colbert certainly showed a nude emperor and took the dung from all the elephants in the living room and rubbed it in the press corps' faces!

3. big difference....
Colbert was scathingly funny

Stewart was just scathing

he'd lost the ability to be funny on that show, that day

I remember that very well

4. I'm a huge fan of Jon Stewart,
but compared to last night's performance, Stewart's outburst looks like small potatoes.

So let's cancel his presidency. :)

12. I can't picture Stewart having the guts to say these things
in front of the prez looking him in the eye as he was saying it. Tho' I wouldn't have thought Colbert could have the strength to do that.

And the fun with Helen part. She had so much fun. After all these years of the president treating her with disrespect, that was a really nice thing to do for Helen.

14. Stewart did the next best thing. He turned them down when they asked him
to host the WHCD this year.

17. Doesn't take courage to turn it down.
It makes a statement to those like you who read about it. I'm sure bush doesn't know or care about Stewart turning this down. It is on a totally different level to stare the president in his face eye to eye and say the things Colbert said in front of a crowd that he is also insulting and has no idea how they are going to react to his humor.

15. CNN was trying to get rid of CrossFire for a long time. The 7pm time
slot had too many viewers. So during the initial invasion of Iraq, they put the show on hold. They moved it to 4pm and cut it in half hoping there wouldn't be too much said against *. Then they had to cut the audience comments because they had no control over what they said. It was just too much of an embarassment on CNN to have so many people sprouting the truth about the "king" during war time.

16. A Gilded Statue of Jon Stewart in every town square!!!

Seriously, Jon helped create and is an Executive Producer of the Colbert Report. They are both awesome.

Funny to see this thread pop up when not 5 weeks ago I saw an IDENTICAL one with the same criticisms directed at Colbert.

I for one am SICK of watching my fellow liberals help the repukes divide and conquer us.
