What the Freepers are saying about Colbert's performance
Much has been said here at the DU of Colbert’s performance at last night’s WH Correspondent’s Dinner, but perhaps the true barometer of his success is what our friends at the Free Republic thought of it.

A day in the life of President Bush (4/29/06): photos & live thread for WH Correspondents' Dinner)

Colbert's calculated "act" was a Bush-bashing, say-it-in-the-President's-face attack. His intention was to embarrass and humiliate the President knowing that he had a captive audience. It was contemptible!

About 20% of the country is in that camp. That's it. I'd be surprised if anyone outside that 20% fringe left group really thought there was anything funny about that sick performance last night.

This was a very thinly disguised, hate-filled Liberal attack! I'll say it again, this left me fuming!

1,274 posted on 04/30/2006 10:36:39 AM PDT by krunkygirl

He wasn't trying to be funny. He was taking the opportunity of being face to face with one of the greatest, kindest, most loving men on earth to shoot arrows of evil at him. In stead of being angry with Colbert last night, I should have been praying for the spiritual protection of the President and First Lady.

We concluded that only leftists who hate the President and think anything nasty said about him, regardless of how stupid it was, could think Colbert was funny last night. And anyone who says that was funny on this forum is on my 'list' as well.......

1,252 posted on 04/30/2006 6:37:29 AM PDT by ohioWfan (PROUD Mom of an Iraqi LIBERATION Vet! THANKS, son!!.)

The disrespect shown to President and Mrs. Bush tonight goes beyond anything I have ever seen. I felt sick inside during some of the remarks. President Bush was trying to be a gentleman and I felt like Tony Snow or someone up there should have told Colbert to get off.

All I can honestly say after a night like this is.....the only good democrat is a dead one! And any Republican that does not support our president is just as bad if not worse. I love President Bush! Anyone that claims to be a Christian and votes democrat is a liar!

BTW, the post from the DU troll that you quoted is now being credited to you in a DU thread. They, of course left off your comment about calling the troll out so it would appear you were the one that wrote it. Typical lib liars.

I made a post at your excuse for a website last year. It was respectful and to the point, complete with a link to back it up. No bashing involved.

Of course one of your Mods completely changing it doesn't fall under the category of "liars" to you, huh?

Hypocrites.

My wife voted for Bush, but is really pretty moderate. She does not like Colbert's show at all. Yet, she was laughing at the piece last night. It was great. If she was laughing, that probably means 50% of America make up the far Left.

I'm curious to see Colbert - he's stated that he is a conservative on his show. I bet he'll be funny.

These people are so far gone. What can you say? You just have to allow them to
play in their own minds--in the land of pretty, sparkly rainbows and prancing ponies.

I'm so sick after reading these responses. These are the bottom-feeding 32 percent. There
they are--chatting up their ridiculous nonsense.

These people are absolutely beyond repair. There's no way to reach them. It's so utterly sad.

How do people get to be like this? Genetics? Environment? Industrial accident?

I have many, many friends who are conservatives. I'm a stay-at-home mom from the 'burbs who belongs to a Christian parenting group. I'd say half of the people I know are not liberals. They certainly don't speak about Junior like these robotic wonders do. They have common sense and they know when it's time to admit failure.

I was especially fascinated by the comments from "krunkygirl" "He wasn't trying to be funny. He was taking the opportunity of being face to face with one of the greatest, kindest, most loving men on earth to shoot arrows of evil at him. In stead of being angry with Colbert last night, I should have been praying for the spiritual protection of the President and First Lady."

If you can get past her poor grammar and misspellings--the amount of lunatic sputtering in her head is utterly overwhelming. She should be part of a research experiment. Anyone who refers to Junior as "one of the greatest, kindest, most loving men on earth" really has fallen off the deep end.

I wonder what she enjoys the most--the murdering of innocent Iraqi children--or our brave soldiers who are being murdered for intentional lies? Maybe she enjoys watching her pResident erode our civil rights and invade our privacy--while using those murdered in 9/11 to justify his unconstitutional crimes.

We just have to concede that there is a certain percentage of Americans who are completely nuts. So sad.

31. Nope these were the whiners, tattle tales, teachers pets and other I'm
unable to control my life types that you hated in grade school. They were pathetic back then and worse now, remember they also would make up things to get others into trouble if they couldn't do it with facts. They still live in that era of their lives, we used to call them busy bodies when I was younger, for you that lived back then, remember the little old lady that would call the cops on you or neighbors for anything they felt was illegal. Dog barking, call the cops, kids playing near their yard or anyplace they felt kids shouldn't play, call the cops. They were also the ones who called the cops on neighbors after seeing a news cast about a crime because the guy next door fit the description yje news gave out. They are what the commies enjoyed, tattle tales.
