Blair: 'We don't rule out any measures at all' in dealing with Iran

By News Agencies

British Prime Minister Tony Blair said on Wednesday he aimed to get international agreement to refer Iran to the UN Security Council after it restarted research into nuclear fuel this week.

"I think the first thing to do is to secure agreement for a reference to the Security Council, that is indeed what the allies jointly decide as I think seems likely," Blair told parliament.

"Then .. we have to decide what measures to take and we obviously don't rule out any measures at all," he added.

Blair said Iran's decision to resume nuclear activities caused "real and serious" alarm across the world.

1. It's a dual problem.
I, for one, am not keen on Iran getting the bomb; at the same time, I'm obviously opposed to the Right Wing's desire to invade Iran.

4. the problem for me is
that after the whole WMD fiasco, I have trouble believing Iran really is trying to get the bomb. I tend to believe them when they say they're just trying to get nuclear energy.

5. Blair declares new pro-war policy for Iran
September 28 2005:

However, Mr Straw (British Foreign Secretary) told the BBC's Today programme: "The truth is, as Condoleezza Rice has said, military action in respect of the Iran dossier is not on anybody's agenda.

"All United States presidents always say all options are open. But it is not on the table, it is not on the agenda. I happen to think that it is inconceivable."

So, 3 months ago, military action was 'inconceivable'; now 'obviously' we don't rule out any measures at all. It's become that 'obvious', has it, Tony? Have you told your own Foreign Secretary what should be 'obvious' to him? Or have you just been spending more time plotting with the White House than talking to your own Cabinet?

6. "We don't rule out any measures . .." Yeah, that's right, "we."
Blow some more hot air, Tony, you nasty little popinjay.

"We" as in Iraq, where the Brits now have less than 10,000 troops. Now there's a "partnership" for you.

Just because you don't put your money or your troops where your mouth is, you're no less the war criminal, little man, as Lord Haw-Haw could have told you before he met his well-deserved end.
