This is disgusting... really low
Edited on Sun Apr-30-06 10:20 PM by WannaJumpMyScooter
Rumsfeld's weekend house in St. Michael, Maryland... eastern shore... is a place known as Mt. Misery.
That is because it was once the home of a Mr. Covey who was a "negro breaker" a specialist in upitty slaves. His most famous negro "resident" was Fredrick Douglas, whom he beat a number of times until Mr. Douglas finally defeated him and fled.

Rumsfeld sits on the deck of this place and drinks at sunsets, rests in peace there.

I hope he is infected with the spirits of the place.

3. He is infected with the spirit of the place
He is one of the chief junta officials responsible for the use of torture in Bush's offshore gulags.

9. I found this interesting
Although Rumsfeld already has two other houses (Washington and Taos, New Mexico), friends say that his wife, Joyce, wanted a weekend place that would force the workaholic defense secretary away from the Pentagon, giving his staff a chance to rest.

Yikes! Can you imagine working for this psychopath?

12. "I hope he is infected with the spirits of the place."
I wonder if Rumsfeld isn't possessed by the spirit of Mr. Covey.

13. How does one...
beat a person "on and off"? She makes it sound just as casual as if Covey was hosting tea parties or having a pal over for a smoke.

The 19th-century red-brick house on 4.5 waterfront acres, or 1.8 hectares, was built by Edward Covey, a notorious breaker of rebellious slaves who beat the abolitionist Frederick Douglass on and off there in 1834.

What a flippant piece of writing from this Elisabeth Bumiller character.

14. I suppose you make them work like dogs one
day without beating them and beat them the next while they work like dogs.

I guess.
