Neil Young's ridiculous new song (Tucker Carlson)
Edited on Mon May-01-06 10:28 AM by IChing
t’s been 40 years since Neil Young produced his first album in the United States. For the last 20 or so, he hasn’t had many hits. But Young hopes to change that with a new song he’s calling, "Let’s Impeach the President."

The lyrics are as subtle as the title, and just about as smart. (Keep in mind that convicting Bush would make Dick Cheney the president.) In any case, here’s a sample of Young’s latest protest tune:

What if Al Qaeda blew up the levees

Would New Orleans have been safer that way

Sheltered by our government’s protection

Or was someone just not home that day?

What does that even mean? The U.S. government is sheltering Al Qaeda? In New Orleans? Huh? It's literally nonsense.

But politically, it does mean something: good news for Bush. An arrogant, out-of-touch rich guy from Canada weighing in on American political issues he clearly doesn’t understand? That’s a political gimmee, manna from Heaven for the GOP. As a strategist I spoke to tonight put it, "It’s people like Neil Young who give Republicans a chance."

5. Yup. How dare Tucker say "arrogant, out-of-touch rich guy"?
And how many records has he sold?

Neil may not have any recent "hit singles" on Clearchannel stations. But his albums have continued to sell. And he's always willing to try something new.

3. Does anyone even care what Tucker Carlson has to say about anything?
He passed irrelevancy quite a while ago. Yawn.

14. Jon Stewart needs to bitch slap him again and Steven needs to interview
HIm.

Just by mentioning the album and song it helps our cause and Neil's gets press.

MSNBC tv will play in the next hour" the complete clip of the funniest part" of the correspondence dinner.
You guessed it, the pResident and his monkey double. I knew Steve's bit wouldn't get much play on the media
but Neil's album will in "the long run".

26. 1800-USA ARMY
Here is my email to him!
Tucker if you believe in this Presidents failed policies so much instead of deriding artists that speak out against him just support him the Army has raised the Enlistment Age, Enlist and do your time supporting Mr Bush's failed policies in Iraq by joining the brave soldiers facing IED's daily! I'm sick and tired of people like you deriding people that criticize King George it is their right to speak out against this failed corrupt administration it is a sad day in america when if you want comedy you turn to MSNBC News and if you want real news you turn to the Comedy Channel At least people like Stephen Colbert have the IntestinaL Fortitude to tell the truth while you just help spread the lies of the Bush Admin. Do the country a favor and enlist to support your president. R. Ramirez, SSG, USA, RET.

Such eloquent wisdom emanating from you, the geeky little bow-tied one (Is that in emulation of George Will or what, Tuck baby?). Anyway, how about Conrad Black who, before his legal troubles mounted, was one of this (mis)administration's most ardent supporters via his multiple international media outlets? What about the Neanderthal-looking Mark Steyn? How about the biggest of them all, Rupert Murdoch -- almost no one is richer, no one controls more media outlets, and he is most definitely a conservative foreigner? Should anyone listen to any of these rich foreigners? I say no, and no one should listen to your drivel, either.

Toodles...

17. I wonder if he really misunderstands the lyrics that badly
or if he's just trying to spin them to confuse people.

Tucker, here a clue: He's saying that, by focusing on the so-called war on terror, we've ignored the necessity of preparing for other potential dangers, such as floods.

He's asking if there would have been a different response if it had been a terrorist attack rather than a natural disaster. He's asking if, in that case, New Orleans would have been sheltered by the government.

The phrase "Sheltered by our government’s protection" refers to New Orleans, not Al Qaeda!

19. Who told rich, Republican-connected white former bowtie boy
Tucker Carlson that HE was in touch with American political issues? After all, I've never seen anything that gives him qualifications to shill an opinion on the public's airwaves beyond his own self-aggrandizing attitude and his daddy's connections. As for it being "good news for Bush". . .I hate to tell Tucker, but actually the wingnuttery broadcast daily on television "commentary" by people like him hasn't managed to do anything to save Bush's popularity...

He's the son of the man heading up the Scooter Libby defense fund. What are his qualifications for having a political show and being a pseudo-pundit ... you tell me.

22. I couldn't resist...
Tucker....I just read your take on Neil Young's new album. The sad thing about corporate news...every time one of you open your mouth, you prove your irrelevance. To be truthful, I was not aware you were still a part of that circus. To bad your not old enough to recall the last time Neil Young had such a great impact on our country's social conscience. But, then again, one who pimps himself out as a clown, would hardly be concerned with such lofty ideals as 'social conscience'. Neil Young's newest album, will add much momentum to the tide that's changing against you and yours. Enjoy your irrelevance....and remember Julius Streicher.

23. Tucker, you idiot
What do you think it means?

The lyrics explain it themselves

"What if Al Qaeda blew up the levees
Would New Orleans have been safer that way
Sheltered by our government’s protection
Or was someone just not home that day?"

The point should be obvious to anyone with half a brain.

Bush didn't do a thing to help N.O, before, during, or after.

Would anything have been different if it had been a terror attack, or would Bush still have stayed on vacation?
