Six women bankers sue DKW for $1.4BN in sex discrimination case
DKW vows to fight women bankers' $1.4bn discrimination case
By Liz Chong

DRESDNER Kleinwort Wasserstein last night insisted it would resist a $1.4 billion (£800 million) lawsuit from six female bankers who have lodged documents in a New York court alleging sex discrimination.

The women list allegations intended to show lax attitudes to personnel matters. These range from claims that they were denied promotions to a claim that the former chief executive of the investment bank, Leonard Fischer, openly had an affair with his personal assistant while married and fathered an illegitimate child.

The women bankers, five of whom work on Wall Street and one in London, say that they were blocked from promotion, demeaned, and paid less than their male counterparts.

The allegations came as Dresdner hosted a high-profile conference on Wall Street to promote German enterprise. Commerzbank and E.ON are among dozens of German firms whose senior executives are attending.
