In honor of "Mission Acomplished" - the 3rd anniversary

Media Matters has "Mission Accomplished: A look back at the media's fawning coverage of Bush's premature declaration of victory in Iraq" featured on its website.

Chris Matthews: "He won the war. He was an effective commander. Everybody recognizes that, I believe, except a few critics."

1. Is Matthews familiar with the term "palooka?"
In boxing, it's the opponent picked so's the prospective champ can clobber him and buff his KO record. Saddam was Bush's palooka. Iraq wasn't invaded because it was powerful and dangerous. It was invaded because it was weak and available.

Bush beat his palooka. But he lost his title match, then lost a number of decisions, and is now in a Tyson-like biting frenzy.

But Matthews is still glowing over the palooka as if THAT is what REALLY mattered. What a dick.

Or is it that extra gov't check he's getting every week to spew forth
his drivel??

4. Well when Matthews uses the phrase "a few critics"
He really means "about 2/3rds of the the American people."

6. I'd have to go with (M)an Coulter's quote:

"I can't imagine any Democrat doing that..." i.e., taking the photo-op and none of the responsibility for disaster.

9. To this day I have never figured out why the media.......
thought that stunt by Bush was so remarkable, manly, brave and whatever other nauseating drivel they spouted that day. Did I miss something. He landed on an aircraft carrier with a top pilot and that was somehow supposed to be the bravest thing any president had ever done. To me he looked like a total ass. I just don't get it!!!

10. They are paid big bucks to make the idiot look like a hero
No different from advertising agencies being paid big bucks to make skanky products look appealing.

The only difference is that they are selling out our country, not selling some gloppy cosmetic cream.
