Fundie Ohio school board upholds Intelligent Design plan
Ohio board upholds science plan; could face lawsuit
By: Annie Hall
Issue date: 1/11/06

By a 9-8 vote, the Ohio Board of Education retained a science lesson plan that allows for the critical analysis of evolution yesterday, holding open the door for teaching intelligent design in Ohio's 10th grade classrooms.

Board member Martha W. Wise of Avon introduced a motion to eliminate the controversial plan. She said her concerns with keeping the plan involved the similarities between Ohio's plan and curriculum history and that of Dover, Pa.

<snip>

Several members said that both the American and Ohio Academies of Science had sent the board letters objecting to the science curriculum. Seventeen nationally recognized science and academic organizations had done so.

Several Ohio State professors and students were on hand to address the board, but their participation was held until the end of the meeting, after the vote had been taken.

Anybody still think that the Dover Pa decision only affects the Dover Pa school district? That judge (appointed by the Chimp!) was a ghodsend.

Can't wait for the Ohio lawsuit! :popcorn: :popcorn: :popcorn:

1. This will go on for a thousand more years.
The religious right will never give up. Maybe after some scientist creates life will there be a slight change in their beliefs.

2. When they take the college entrance exams will they
be ready? They are harming their own children. Even if you do not believe in a theory to be truly educated you need to know about it.

3. This is a battle that will never end
What we have now though is a Fed Court case that can be cited. Even though its in a different state, it still holds weight b/c its the only one in the nation out there on point. Its also a very very strong decision. So these ID folks are in for an uphill battle when they take this from court to court. Eventually one of these idiots will be dumb enough to appeal it to a higher court where they can be slapped down even harder.

4. Ohio has lost it. They have turned into an incorrigible rogue state.
