Suppose all 11 million illegals became citizens and could vote.
Which party do you think they would most likely vote for? Being largely Catholic what kind of Christians would they emulate? Fundies? Suppose they marched for a living wage and health care and those things became the law of the land. Who else would benefit from their efforts.

My point is this, if you are a working class American, the past has proved that human rights fought for and won by immigrants and descendants of slaves have accrued to you. The Irish in factories New York, the Civil Rights movements, the immigrant dock workers and railroad laborers, the garment workers in sweat shops all have fought for better a better quality of life and we are all better off for it.

Imagine if the 11 million illegal workers became legal and used the same power they show today to improve wages and benefits for all of us.

On the other hand we could spend billions trying to round them up and deport them. If successful we would only have ourselves to fight for a better quality of life. And just see how organized we are. Just look at how many workers we could get to walk out of their jobs to protest their plight.

9. Felons (or ex-felons) can already vote in many states...
Even Texas.

5. Well, lets see. Only half would vote
So, if all of the 11 million are of voting age, thats 5.5 million votes.

How many of that half would be swallowed up by some form of GOP lies and propaganda.

We might not gain that much.

7. Conservative attitudes regarding social issues will ensure that many
vote Republican. Forty-four percent of Hispanics went with Bush the last time around.

Republicans would find a way to make these people vote against their best interests. Citizenship for illegal immigrants would not be a boon for the Democratic party or workers rights.
