My 9 year old son is running for "class president" on a peace platform.
"A vote for me is a vote for peace" is his slogan. He wants his election to be a "symbolic statement" from his class that they want out of Iraq now. If elected, he and his "board" will send an "official" letter to the president, our congressional representatives, the governor, and the local newspapers asking them to withdraw troops.

I don't think he came up with this idea on his own, though. He's got a "campaign manager" who had put my son up as the "peace candidate" because my son in on the wrestling, track and football teams and the girls think he's cute.

A future democratic campaign consultant in the making!

1. Are the 4th graders starting trouble?
Or are the Kindergartners starting riots with "the big kids"?

Them sandbox wars are AWFUL. I know, I used to start 'em.

3. Ohhh, I love that....
he sounds like a great kid. You must be very proud of him. Sending good wishes for a successful campaign and wishing we had more politicians like him.

4. You should set up a campaign website....
Groundbreaking stuff for a 9 year old. Would make him feel really good too.

6. Now that is neat
I remember when I was a little girl, the Vietnam war was going on. It really really bothered me, even though I knew next to nothing about it, other than people were dying and the guy who lived down the street who came back from the war "had problems"
To this day I remember the commercial where they had the leaders of warring countries fighting in the ring rather than soldiers dying.

Your little boy is going places I bet. Thank him for me.

7. No, vote for me! Our class will dominate the playground with an Iron fist!
We will cease to be mere first-graders and become GODS!
