So Clem and Jethro are building a fence let's shut them down. |
|
Edited on Mon May-01-06 05:48 PM by DanCa
So I was watching CNN and Anderson Cooper said that the minute men are building a fence in a secure and undisclosed location. I say let's find out where, and take pics of them in the act. Then DU as a whole can email the local authorites and complain about Clem and Jethro's fence building. What ya all think ? Would this work?

1. I believe they've obtained permission from private farm owners |
|
So there's really nothing that can be done. And if the farmers want to protect their land, they have every right to do so. I just can't get it up over private citizens doing something totally legal on their own land :ohwell:

4. If its on their own land than why the secrecy? |

And if it's private property than so be it.

19. To keep people away, and limit the invasion of privacy. |
|
Also, to limit attention to where it is, which might spread word for illegals to avoid that area all together.

3. If they're building it on private land, what do you care? |
|
The illegals are crossing on private ranch land in many places.
Now, if the minute geniuses are building a 5-mile long fence, that won't be all that effective a deterrent.

8. Local ABC Affiliate in San Diego reported this |
|
Apparently, it was one landowner who let them repair the fence. The metal and wooden poles were in place, so the Minutemen brought the barbed wire and erected it.

I dont' know though that if this is the same fence that AC was talking about. He'll report it on tonight. Like I siad if it's private property its one thing but if it's public land it's another. PS I wonder how many times that Jethro got whacked in a face with a rake because he kept stepping on it wrong :D

6. It's all grandstanding, and it means nothing. But let them build... |
|
because all of the dumbass wing-nuts will ask their beloved leader, "See, they are building a fence--why couldn't you get this done?"
They are working against their president, and they are too stupid to see it.

fact is - it's hard to hire illegals this close to the border - the border patrol is too busy driving all over the place in thier new SUVs, including on private property. Man I wish they would just line all of THEM up hand in hand along the border - might actually do some good.

that if they detain someone it's kidnapping.
Maybe they're just fencing themselves in.

Edited on Mon May-01-06 06:01 PM by walldude
to do whatever it is they think they are accomplishing that they will run in circles sticking their fingers in the dyke. This reminds me of the War On Drugs. That war started 20 years ago and I still have no problem getting drugs if I want them.

It's down here in the Arizona borderlands on private property, you could probably ask anybody in any small town where they are but as far as I know they haven't raised much cash for this project and knowing how effective wall building is, I wouldn't get too excited about it.
Now if they wanted to actually patrol the border (why can't the border patrol do that - it's their name?) it might do some good - there is a risk of livestock disease from all the torn down range fence and Mexican cattle crossing pretty much as freely as the humans do....
Until you actually experience what is going on down here it is really hard to concieve. Imagine all the folks at a legal border crossing or at an airport or just anywhere there are large masses of people. Now march them and all their plastic garbage, extra clothes, water jugs etc across a piece of land every single day. No facilities, fear of getting caught. Now imagine the you live in the path of all this. No matter how good or innocent this huge crowd is (and they are not all good people - it is a typical population, complete with dangerous assholes) but for the sake of argument lets give them social purity. You are still going to have a nightmare trying to live in the middle of a huge crowd of humans trying to get from point A to point B. They need to unload trash, they need to eat, drink, change clothes, pee and shit. Some need to use meds or take drugs for other reasons, some are possibly ill with serious contagious disease. You may well be quite willing to let some racist jerks come build a fence just to give yourself some peace.
The "Minute Men" are not the problem. The migrants are not the problem. The problem is crappy policy. The only way to sove this is to fix the bad policies that have create it. Fussing with the bozos is a total waste of time - they will instantly become useless when the problem is solved.
