I finally get it, Tweety is actually a Tory!
Today I'm watching Chris "which way is my paycheck blowing" Matthews HAMMERING Colbert for a failure of a performance (guess he watched something very different from the rest of us). I notice, in fact that MSNBC is doing a yoeman's job today of slamming Colbert and pimping how wonderful Bush was...

Anyway So Matthew's closes by implying that Colbert was inappropriate because (paraphrasing) "This is the Leader of our Country, not just some politician."

WOAH there Nellie...this starts to sound suspiciously like some sorta Imperial thing..he's not just X, he's the Divine Incarnation of Yabba? And coming from someone who claims JOURNALIST Credentials this is triply troubling.

I forget...when did our President stop being a human? Moreover, when did he become a King? We're not supposed to criticise him? Last I heard the President's power derived from the PEOPLE...and if it's OUR power and WE aren't above the occassional satire, sarcasm, or ironic lampooning, where does he get off? The President is "Special" cuz um?

Let's be clear, it didn't sound like Chris was defending respect for the office...Colbert never attacked the Presidency that I remember, he attacked BUSH.

But then I remembered that even during our revolutionary war where we got this idea that our government was supposed to LISTEN to us, and in fact Represent us...there were those people who were uncomfortable without a Divine King or Emperor. They actually backed England against their fellow Americans. They were Torys. They thought having a King who concentrated 99% of the wealth and who had absolute power of life/death/freedom/slavery over everyone was just spiffy. And they didn't brook no trash talking of their King George....He wasn't just some GUY...he Was THE KING.

How dare you!

And that's what I just heard from Tweety. We had the temerity to mock THE PRESIDENT who isn't just SOME POLITICIAN..er...lets see how we can apply this down the royal line of succession: He's not just some politician he is the Senator! He's not just some politian he is A JUDGE! He's not Just some Politician he is the Governor!.

Maybe we can just replace those titles with Duke, and Baron and be done with it. Then the rest of us can shut up and accept their holy chosen position to RULE OVER US.

Why the hell would ANYONE think like this? I don't really know. Perhaps it makes them feel safe having someone else RULE them, DECIDER for them, etc. Maybe they think they are going to be Royalty too. Maybe they just accept 30 pieces of silver.

But lets return to the Journalist thing...what's their supposed job again? Yeah I understand how bad the propaganda corporate hell that is the MSM has become...but for a even faux Journalist to speak like this strikes at the heart of our cultural concept. America is supposed to be the world's guiding like precisely because we DO SPEAK TRUTH TO POWER. BECAUSE WE DON"T HAVE KINGS. BECAUSE WE YELL BLOODY MURDER WHEN THE EMPEROR HAS NO CLOTHES...and that whole Freedom of the press thingy hangs right on top of it all...THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO TRUST NO POLITICIAN. THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO INVESTIGAGE, LAMPOON, SKEWER, And otherwise plague EVERYONE in power for one very simple reason...IT KEEPS THEM FROM BECOMING MONSTERS DRUNK ON POWER.

And in this they have not only failed...but as Tweety illustrated today (and many other days), they failed willingly.

I'd rant more but frankly I'm just too frustrated.

Matthews, you and your imperial ass-kissing ilk can blow me.

2. Tweet just cares about the number of people who watch softball.
I am not telling people what to watch or type, I don't have that right. I am just saying that since I stopped watching Tweety that my disposition has improved, I am losing weight, and some of my hair has grown back. :D

He is just another idiot -
Don't give him anymore credit than that - it is NOT DESERVED.

I guess he is as entertaining as Rush, in a pale, wanna-be centerist, wanna-be kinda way.

Wanna-be being the key words.

If he really is stupid enough to "not get it" - he should be canceled right now!!

The reason Colbert was important,"WILL BE important, he understood sarcasisim is the antidote to the "medicine" delivered by FOX - it is the ANTIDOTE. It works!!

Expose the "bloviating" to sarcasm, in our society, and it is like popping a baloon of crap.

Colbert is very good, VERY GOOD.

Tweety is a "wannabe asskisser" if I can borrow your wording.

5. I Just EmailedTweety
I went on for a bit about Bush not being a king, etc. Then I told him when he wakes up one morning and finds out he's been rendered irrelevant, he'll look back on Saturday night and realize he failed to notice history being made.

7. Rendered irrelevant -
That is GREAT.

Wouldn't it be hysterical if he got rendered so by Ronald Reagan's kid??

One can only hope.

6. Did he feel, and act, that way during the Clinton years?
The rules and respect for the office always seem to change when there's a Democrat in there.

9. It's the fact that the president is the leader of the nation which
makes it so essntial to speak the truth to him as Colbert did.

11. I e-mailed him thusly:

**Hilary Clinton!** **Hilary Clinton!** **Hilary Clinton!** **Hilary Clinton!**

Hi Chris,

Now that I've got your attention, I should point out that the president of the United States is a regular citizen and is not above criticism, or the law, though one wouldn't know it by watching your show.

It's on the record that GW Bush lies, cheats, steals, kills, and tortures. But you wouldn't know that from observing the conventional media. But when Stephen Colbert jokes about it you get upset! In our history, men like Mark Twain, Will Rogers, HL Mencken, Charlie Chaplin, Lenny Bruce, Abby Hoffman, and now, Stephen Colbert have used humor to challenge the pretensions of tyrants such as George Bush. You, in your provincial, parochial, conventionalism do not understand. Of course the press was upset. You don't do your job, and Colbert pointed that out.

Brown nose, your doing a heckuva job!

12. Thanks, I've emailed all the networks in the past
but today I couldn't drink enough to convince myself that they'd actually read anything I sent them.

Nice to see Jon Stewart give Colbert some credit at least. Damn we're a country reduced to watching Comedy Central for the closest thing we have to political and social insight.

Hence my subject line. Tweety is obsessed with Hilary. So someone will read it and get a chuckle.
