Chalabi is back in the loop (and this isn’t just a sick joke)
http://www.conjur.com/blog/2006/05/01/chalabi-is-back-in-the-loop-and-this-isnt-just-a-sick-joke/

Remember Ahmed Chalabi? You know, the man who helped the PNAC fucks in this administration with their Selective Intelligence that was Stovepiped past the normal vetting process and directly to the White House and to the Pentagon. The man who was The Manipulator behind the false stories fed to the New York Times’ Judith Miller for her pre-war cheerleading articles. The man who was declared to be a spy for Iran based upon this administration’s claims of “rock solid evidence”. The man whom Condoleezza Rice promised to Congress would be the target of a full criminal investigation.

That guy?

Well, RawStory is reporting that that same Ahmed Chalabi is now back on the team “acting as broker between the US Ambassador to Iraq, Zalmay Khalilzad, and Iranian officials in what are now stalled diplomatic efforts between the US and Iran.”

Seems no one knows exactly how Chalabi got back “in the loop” but with the US Ambassador to Iraq, Khalilzad, being one of the PNAC fucks, it’s not a leap of logic to assume the two are somehow involved. Hell, I wouldn’t be surprised if batshit-insane Michael Ledeen was racking up some frequent flier miles over to the Middle East.

Chalabi appears to want to focus on the Iraqi insurgency. Perhaps he thinks he still stands a snowball’s chance in hell of getting back into a position of power in a new Iraqi government. I think I have a better chance of making 18 holes-in-one at the next Masters tournament. Certainly money/power is behind his shoehorning of himself into the situation, though. Charity and goodwill are just not part of these bastards’ vocabulary.

I do find it interesting that the promised criminal investigation of Chalabai went nowhere fast. That was merely a ruse to distance the White House from Chalabi when the lies surrounding the pre-war intelligence hitting every fan in Washington. Now that the war drums are beating steadily toward Iran, it appears nothing will get in the way of the PNAC fucks’ desire for regime change in Iran. Nevermind that Ahmadinejad was elected through a democratic process much like our own (actually, given the lack of Diebold, ES&S, and Sequoia in Iran, it was probably a more legitimate election than our own) or the ones recently held in Iraq. Now, just why in the world would this administration want to remove a democratically-elected leader of another country? Wouldn’t have to do with what lies beneath the surface in Iran, would it?

Naaaaaahhhhh…

3. i disagree. It is sick. and it is a joke.
It is a joke that the US would allow this slimy weasel back into any position of power. And being the intermediary - JUST BEFORE ANOTHER DAMNED WAR - that is the same damned position he held before we fucked up our way into Iraq.

While I agree with your message and your sentiment completely, I still say it is sick and it is a joke. Just from a different perspective.

9. Look at all the other weasels from Iran/Contra, etc that Bush-co has
elevated to positions of power again after they have been totally discredited. Chalabi is of the same ilk as Negroponti and Oliver North. That is the only ilk that the Bush Crime Family knows how to deal with. They are all crooks. The Globe last Sunday said that Bush had broken at least 750 laws. Chalabi is his kind of guy. I am sure that he will do a "heck of a job"! ... :sarcasm:

5. Geez.... imagine if Ackmad Alibi started rumors to the effect that
the U.S. was thinking about bombing and invading a country halfway around the world for no apparrent reason. Why, he might be able to persuade others to take preemptive actions and bring it to the U.S. first. Imagine if we didn't have the biggest stick and others were able to do what is/was really in their hearts.... imagine the sh*t we would be in about now... not that we aren't in a lot of sh*t as it is.

6. You mean the same Chalabi who got approximately zero votes
in the recent Iraqi so-called 'parliamentary elections'?

10. This thug has been working in and for the Iraqi gov't from the start
He's still wanted in Jordan -- STILL -- for bank fraud dating back decades...but that sort of behavior only endears one to BushCo. When he returned to Iraq with the US, Chalabi was already well-known to ordinary Iraqis as a thug and a criminal. He has his own band of thugs who go around kidnapping people and holding them for ransom. Chalabi and his gang were largely responsible for the US disinformation campaign surrounding Hussein's WMD.

11. Oh, don't you remember? Jordan pardoned him a while back.

Back when it was politically expedient for the Propagandist and the PNAC cabal.

12. Shame on me
I've seriously maligned Mr. Chalabi. Naturally Jordan's pardon means he's become a fine, upstanding person since his bank failure and conviction in absentia -- one who can now be trusted with billions of US taxpayer dollars. I apologize most humbly. What was I thinking? I deserve to be flogged....
