Letter from Sen. Lincoln
Thank you for contacting me regarding the nomination of Judge Samuel
Alito for Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court.

I received a response from my senator, Blanche Lincoln, D-ARK, this morning. Here it is - typical wishy-washy answer. I'd give anything for some courage in the senate.

"I believe the U.S. Senate's role of advise and consent is an important
check and balance that our forefathers instituted, and it is an obligation
that I do not take lightly. I also believe that the people of Arkansas
and our nation deserve a Supreme Court Justice who is able to fulfill his
or her Constitutional responsibility to interpret and apply the law fairly
without political favor or bias.
I look forward to carefully reviewing the qualifications of Judge Alito
in the weeks ahead as I evaluate his ability to serve on the U.S. Supreme
Court. It is my hope that he will be thoroughly and fully reviewed by the
U.S. Senate, and through this process I hope to gain a better
understanding of his skills, experiences, intellect, and ability to
understand and apply established judicial precedent.

I appreciate knowing of your interest in this nomination. You can be
certain that I will be monitoring the upcoming hearings in the Senate
Judiciary Committee closely as I evaluate the President's nominee. I am
proud to represent the citizens of Arkansas in the U.S. Senate and hope
you will not hesitate to let me know whenever I may be of assistance to
you in the future."

1. Carbon copy of the one I got from her. I sent a little note to both her
and Pryor again, yesterday. This time I expressed by views on Mr. Alito's faulty memory (didn't recollect being in CAP) and indications that he wants a 'super executive' branch.
