Who chose Colbert? HERE'S THE ANSWER:
According to David Bender of People for the American Way on Rachel Maddow's Air America Show this morning, the person who chose Colbert for the WHCD was the incoming brand-new president of C-Span, Steve Scully.

You should thank him.

3. I sure want to thank him but I bet Brian Lamb

will have problems with that choice.

That Brian is not on my list of friendly faces.

13. Yeah but old Brian does have a respect for intellect ...
even if it comes from the left. Nope, I think it's cool with Steve. ;)

9. I think Lamb is obsessed about documenting history - and history was
made Saturday night starting with well deserved criticism of the press - that prissy group of people who are equally to blame for the deaths, dismemberments, destruction, the riches of the corporations, and the constant demeaning of the citizens.

6. I thought that the person from AP who introduced Colbert selected him.

Didn't the he (the man from AP) say something about that during the introduction?

10. The out-going president picked him
The guy mentions it as the end.

I'm thinking it's a "cheney" to the pResident.

14. he also commented on shrub saying "he had a face for radio....."
and....while introducing the head table...he "NEVER" mentioned the president...he said something about the guy who is with the last speaker from last year...meaning Laura....or something like that..

I thought that was interesting how he never introduced him until they gave a toast. Payback is hell.
