2. The immigration movement comes from living through oppression.
Most of us have not been directly affected by the war (indirectly, yes ... but directly, no).To paraphrase Colbert: the anti war movement has been too cerebral and disconnected from the raw nerve. Cindy Sheehan has been the exception, not the rule.
People who might be deported feel a deep sence of urgency about their plight. People who won't be drafted are less personally motivated.
